I agree, drivers jump ship all the time and its no big deal but when a trainer or owner makes a change it

becomes news ?  idunno
When a horse has 15 starts, ten wins, two or three seconds, and $700k+ on his card, it is beyond ignorant to change drivers.

Bullshit !! If a better horse came along or any horse Morrill thought was better he

would not hesitate to take that horse. I don't even know why the connections made

any mention of it, that makes no sense to me. This is 2012 not 1974 there is not

much loyalty left in this world. Yanni will take a better horse over a Burke horse

in a New York minute if he thinks the other horse is better and you don't seen any

of them guys on here whining and bitching  noway

I agree, Skipper.

And if you were keeping score, Tetrick won 4, Morrill took the collar.  (Lachance, Pierce & Gingras all had 3).

I don't think Yannick is ever going to pick off of Foiled Again. It's one thing to take a driver off a horse that he was not getting along with. But when you have hit the board in 12 or 13 of his 15 starts including 10 wins, and picking up over $700K along the way, it is something you just don't do.

I also could understand it if Bruce Sturgeon had been driving the horse, but this is a guy with a .420 UDR.

I do want to clarify something, I never said it was the right move, just that I don't thinks its a big deal.  I probably wouldn't have done it in this particular situation but I just think its hypocritical to say that the act of pulling a driver is wrong while them choosing off isn't.

I gave TT alot of his early drives in Chicago and he always paid off for me. When other trainers with bigger stables saw that they started putting him on their horses. He'd always come to see me and tell me that he was trying to get hooked onto the best stables. I never once got pissy, and I wished him the best. (which is right where he's at)

That being said: I wouldn't have taken Morrill of a horse after he had that kind of success with Archangel. But if it's your horse you get to make the call, good or bad.
Somewhere in Kenya a village is missing it's idiot.

I don't necessarily disagree with you.  However, I do think TT gave him the best chance to win & he could've been in the lead for 3 yo Trotter of the Year if he'd held on in the final.  And TT gave him every chance to do that.  It's all speculation but you can't know if Morrill would've won the 1st heat.  The owner had every right to discover if his horse truly was the best.

And Morrill is not exactly the poster child for the sport anyway.  Moe like the Master of Mattress Money.

I thought it was a bad steer on a horse that laid over his competition.

Gotta go with LB46 on this - Morrill would drop him in a heartbeat if a better offer came along.

And I always say if you can get one of the Top 5, you take him.

This is probably the closest to the truth you will ever get!! thumbsup
The drivers have no loyalty anymore , unless it's a father/son combo.
