The connections of Archangel have decided to have Tetrick drive their colt in the Ky Futurity instead of regular pilot Jim Morrill Jr. They describe it as a business decision: Morrill has been very successful with the colt, but TT is the hottest driver around.

Archangel drew the eight post in the Night of Champions SS final at YR a couple of weeks ago, and to make matters worse, it was raining hard during the race. Morrill was trying to get him into contention when he broke on the last turn. It wasn

If you race your stock regularly on that NYSS circuit, Morrill isn

I like Tim Tetrick, but no way in hell would I take off Jim Morrill Jr., ever, ever.

Timmy is awesome but Jimmy won lots of races for them this year

I thought it was a bad steer on a horse that laid over his competition.

Gotta go with LB46 on this - Morrill would drop him in a heartbeat if a better offer came along.

And I always say if you can get one of the Top 5, you take him.

Business is business. If you can get the best driver on the planet, you get the best driver on the planet.

Yeah, Archangel beat Fogelberg around the track in the final--only because that one jumped and got distanced. Angel was sent off the favorite and TT drove him like he was the best. Easy first half, too. Folded like a piece of paper at mid-stretch. Maybe Timmy didn't know him well enough.

Morrill finished third with 40/1 shot, Another Amaretto. Good for him.

Do you think Timmy will be jumping at the chance to drive Archangel in the BC?

Very poor move by the connections of Archangel. Take off Morrill for one drive and then expect him to jump back up as if nothing happened? Many smarter people than me were shaking their heads talking about this yesterday at The Red Mile.

Was good to see him not get a check in the final though. And Ray Schnittker-well I see why he hates two heats. His horses can't go two heats.

I agree, drivers jump ship all the time and its no big deal but when a trainer or owner makes a change it

becomes news ?  idunno

It became news because the connections were talking to harnessracing.com, HRU and other news outlets about it. I don't believe Morrill made any public statements about it.
