Just looking at your post & knowing that there is a report of a possible remarriage for Tiger & Elin, if she can find a way to forgive him for his moral errors, how holy must an esteemed poster be to not forgive someone who never did anything illegal?

There isn't anything for us to forgive.

But given the choice I will root for a guy like Phil that stuck by his wife and supported his wife while she had cancer vs a guy that ran around on his.

The only effect on my life Tiger winning a major would have is that I would hear about it if I watched sports center or read about it when checking news sites.

The only reason I dislike Tiger is because he has a history of stiffing dealers in Las Vegas. Charles Barkley called him and Michael Jordan "cheap m.f.ers" to their faces while they were playing together, thus I love Charles Barkley.

It is just tough for me to cheer for anyone who is a cheap tipper.  ;D 8)

I would say its unlikely he'll consistently compete as was the case last year.

Yeah, he wasn't in competition last year.

slaphead US Open - after 36 holes, T1.
slaphead British Open - finished T3.
slaphead PGA Championship - after 36 holes, T1.

If you'd have said he didn't win majors last year, you'd be correct but to say he was not in competition shows that you are commenting on something you really don't follow.

I feel that way about your football posts.

rflmao1 You mean my football picks!

And here's another gem, Jeremy: Take Baltimore straight up to win the game - no points.  You know I'm a Ray Lewis fan!  lilcheerleader

That's not what he said.  He said he Was competitive last year, but he doesn't think he will be this year.  I could care less what he does.  I don't bet on golf.  I do get in a big Masters pool, I might take him in the A group because he generally does well at Augusta.  In his heyday, if you took him you had points added to his score as a handicap.  Not anymore!

Certainly food for thought. I can assure you I dont want to see Ray Lewis win anything. I have no opinion on the game , but he is he deciding factor in me becoming a Niners fan Sunday,
And the same would hold true fot Tiger. And I surely agree the competition is a lot better than it was when he was at his best.
I would say its unlikely he'll consistently compete as was the case last year.

Good post Dale

Hal, the way I'm understanding this post is that the competition is better (which is debatable - IMO it is less) in the poster's opinion who is saying it is unlikely he'll compete, much like last year.  If that is not what Max means, he should state it clearly.  Why would someone say that he won't be able to compete like last year considering 2012 was the 1st healthy year Tiger has had since 2007?  Also why would he feel that way after last week's 4 shot win?

Anyway, Max was responding to this post:
Wil he win a major this year?  I don't think so - too many hot young guns on the rise.   Perhaps another question might be, "Do you WANT him to win another major - at any time?"

He agreed, probably with both the statement & more likely, the question, taking the classical Tiger-hater's position.  This is after I posted my holier-than-thou statement, which I stand by.  I know only too many people who think they are above others, morally, when they are equals, at best.

I also read it the same way Hal did, but have been doing nothing but sending out w2's and doing taxes so I'm kind of out of it.

Here are the odds from the NYNY sportsbook on the Masters:  (as of 1/15
Tiger Woods  5/1
Rory Mcilroy  6/1
Phil Mickleson  10/1
Lee westwood 22/1
Luke Donald 25/1
Bubba Watson 25/1
Dustin Johnsom  10/1
Justin Rose  20/1
Jason Dufner  20/1
Field  8/1

My thinking is Matt Kucharat30/1, at least for now.

Lee Westwood is said to love the track in Augusta.

Lee Westwood is something like 0-63 in majors & has only won 2ice on PGA Tour - once in '98 & '10.  22-1 is very short.

I don't like the way Rory's swinging those new Nike clubs.

Hal, from your list the field is attractive at 8-1.

Watch out for Phil if he hits his new driver the way he did last weekend. Everything was right down the middle which isn't like him at all

True Pezz but...

Phil has found "something".  In golf that usually lasts a couple of weeks & then it's history - for us hackers, it lasts a few holes.

As far as horses for courses though, Augusta fits a bunch of top players well, including Tiger, Phil, Justin Rose, Luke Donald, Rory (although I think he's in for a tough year with new clubs & fiance)...

How about a Trifecta for the Masters?  In no particular order, the Top three from my vantage point would be Tiger, Rory and Phil. Yes, thats like boxing three favorites in a race and chances are someone from out of nowhere will get hot that week and might take home top honors.  Could make a strong case for any of them.   Hard to imagine with all this cold and snow going on that in two short months we'll be watching the Masters!
