Analysis of A-B-C Racing AND Other Stuff.
« on: December 21, 2012, 11:49:58 AM »
http://www.drf.com/news/pandolfo-meadowlands-returns-b-c-classification-system

Too bad this isn't going to happen:

So Balmoral and the Meadowlands have the best chance of stealing business away from Thoroughbred tracks. There's no question in my mind that this greatly contributed to Balmoral's increase in handle. Balmoral's racing appeals to almost all types of horse players. This goes to show that if you put on a good product, with exciting come-from-behind winners, full fields, and good payoffs, people will bet on your races. If the state of Illinois votes in slot machines at racetracks in 2013, Balmoral could easily become the top harness track in North America.

Here is the one line in the article that i think is terribly wrong!!!

This gives the racing secretary the power to classify horses based on current form

If I'm an owner or trainer , I would want to put my horses where I think they belong
just sayin'

Balmoral handles good money because of 3 things 1 - it's a mile track 2 - because their signal is everywhere (look at Northfield) 3 - they race when very few tracks do (wed) (sun)

Balmoral has a terrible product  !! terrible horses and terrible drivers !!

Balmoral has the most inconsistent racing there is = big payouts , they have lame horses racing each week that never race back to the same form they raced the week before .

And you have drivers that you have to guess on who's trying from week to week (Widger) (Miller) (Oosting) those 3 drivers could never pull the shit that they do at another racetrack without getting thrown out.

You must not watch the Big M and the Meadows, not to mention Northfield.

Northfield a close 2nd as for the other 2 its not even close.

There's really no reason to sneeze a horse at the Meadows when your going for 8k-22k a race .
I doubt any of the top drivers at the Meadowlands are willing to do it for the money ,they have way too much to lose .

Im not saying it doesn't happen from time to time at every track but at Balmoral it happens alot and especially when there are carryovers.

And, yet, some of the biggest scandals have taken place right there.

as a harness racing fan for over 30 yrs i have seen some strange things go on at virtually all the tracks i have watched regularly
going way back to the banks family along with busse
just for good measure toss in all the chit pelling pulled and we and we have illinois covered
moving on to the meds when the simulcasting market opened up and we had the lachance family running wild   the pools and purses were huge and the exactas and tris were well worth the payout    micel and luc playing the give and go and get em home add in patrick and it was trifecta time

if you play any track often enuff you will see the games drivers
 play

Roosevelt Raceway did very well using this system many years ago. Might work, can't hurt.  idunno
