I made some awesome "pantry" vegetable stew/soup last night. Started with a piece of marked down chuck eye steak. Rubbed it with garlic, lots of pepper and my amish beef base and browned it in coconut oil. Meanwhile cooked onion and celery down. Braised browned beef in water with bay leaf, celery, rosemary, more garlic and a little bit of dill seed. When celery and onions were done took a chunk of the beef and added it to veggies along with V8 juice a can of succotash and half a bag of baby carrots. Also added curry powder a bay leaf and more garlic. To the rest of beef in braising liquid I added a bottle of woodchuck hard cider a tiny bit of nutmeg and cinnamon and other half of carrots. That beef will be shredded and froze to go into beef and noodles, bbq beef or some other creation in the future. I love the sweet tangy flavor the cider gives it but if I had been drinking wine or guinness that would have ended up in it.
