Dang Gary I resemble that remark.  hammerhead1

You obviously have never had any home cooked food prepared by a Polish Grandma like mine was. You probably even believe that crap they call polish sausage is real polish sausage. Couldn't make any for the holiday's this year because of my broken wrist but rest assured it is nothing like store bought.

I even keep a shaker filled with granulated garlic just in case.

Just bought my duck for Christmas supper. It is thawing so it can be salted and Koshered for 3 or 4 days before roasting to perfection.
I was married to a Polish woman and her mother is one of my favorite chefs. Matter of fact she still cooks for me when I visit her.  ;D

I made some awesome "pantry" vegetable stew/soup last night. Started with a piece of marked down chuck eye steak. Rubbed it with garlic, lots of pepper and my amish beef base and browned it in coconut oil. Meanwhile cooked onion and celery down. Braised browned beef in water with bay leaf, celery, rosemary, more garlic and a little bit of dill seed. When celery and onions were done took a chunk of the beef and added it to veggies along with V8 juice a can of succotash and half a bag of baby carrots. Also added curry powder a bay leaf and more garlic. To the rest of beef in braising liquid I added a bottle of woodchuck hard cider a tiny bit of nutmeg and cinnamon and other half of carrots. That beef will be shredded and froze to go into beef and noodles, bbq beef or some other creation in the future. I love the sweet tangy flavor the cider gives it but if I had been drinking wine or guinness that would have ended up in it.  ;)

Forgot that the vegetable concoction had a 1/4 cup of Franks Red Hot because it has the best flavor although more mild heat than some hot sauces.
