Case is one of the best to ever hold a set of lines... wonderfully gifted. But he is a ticking bomb. I honestly don't know what to do with him. I wish I had his driving talent, without his demons.

HRU reports that Case has been granted a hearing before the Massachusetts Racing Commission on Thursday. His lawyer expects other states to fall in line if Case is licensed to drive in Mass. Six months back Jeff Gural promised Case that he could race at The Meadowlands if he got his license back.

Case's lawyer stated that if Walter had been driving all these years it could well be Case rather than Dave Palone chasing Herve's record.

Pretty sure Case would have broken the record long ago had he not screwed up so badly. As it is, Saline will likely set a record that will never be broken.

The USTA has nothing to do with it. The bottom line is if he can get licensed in a state. With a state license he'd be eligible to drive at any track in that state (with managements approval). The USTA license is meaningless. If the USTA refuses to reinstate him, the will give him a NON membership (they always take the money). This is basically a fee to have the USTA set him up in the computer...

Hope Walter gets another chance. Best I've ever seen, & I'm 53. It's almost like; I don't want him to drive again. It might ruin my perception of his greatness. He's kinda like Tiger, though, in that he just may be setting himself up for some "embarrassment" that I really don't want to see.
