What are we doing wrong that we cannot sell our
standardbred product better?
First, I'm not a horseman.
My outside perception is that, nobody is doing nothing wrong (despite all the controversy), rather these times are simply a changing-of-the-guard and/or interests.
If there's not enough wagering public to sustain the sport, that makes the drawing-pool for participants much smaller.
In addition, and traditionally speaking, many horsemen have come from farm families and farms (at least the family-type) have fallen by the wayside as well.
Hell! Many kids today haven't a clue about how to put in the simplest of gardens, how would they begin farming?
