Is there actually somebody here from Vermont?

I've a pile of old info just bulging at the seams for some Vermont contacts.
I've never even met a Vermonter. I suspect it's a mythical place like Oz.

I've never even met a Vermonter. I suspect it's a mythical place like Oz.

From Sept 5, 1929 Trotter and Pacer mag:

May E. Grattan and Sweet Echo Star at Essex

Flambo Beats Bronx in Biggest Upset of Green Mountain Circuit Meet

ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt., Aug. 30.

RACING at the Champlain Valley Exposition closed this afternoon after five days of high class sport. Fields were not large, as a rule, but excellent contests were put on, Harry Brusie was top driver, winning five races.

The meeting opened Monday with two class races and the three-year-old trot. Trudy Guy won the colt event, taking a new record of 2:09 in the first heat. Heatherbell came from the rear to win the last heat, trotting the last quarter in :301/2. Prince Forbes captured the first two heats of the 2:20 trot while Dr. Voorhees was executing toe dances, but Rodney got the Doctor down tobusiness in the third, which he won handily. Gypsy Star won the 2:15 pace, dropping the last heat to Scott Grattan.

Tuesday brought:, an unevenful program. Harry F. won the 2:24 pace and Anna P., the trot, both in straight heats. Ortolan Brooke won, the two-year-old trot for Harry Brusie, after dropping the first heat to Maidstone because of a break. Wednesday was a good day for the Canadians, pacers from over the border landing two of the races. Willis Grattan, thanks to Harry Brusie's reinsmanship, came out on top in the 2:12 pace, although losing the last heat to Pax Volo. Beryl Grattan won every heat in the 2:20 pace, stepping three heats. better than 2:10. Plucky returned to the winning column in the 2:07 trot. There were blanket finishes between the-three contestans each heat. Miss Neva got the decision in the first heat, equalling her record of 2:081/2, but the stallion won the other two, racing on the outside. Lee Gadsby won the 2:24 trot in straight heats.

Thursday, before a crowd of 20,000 people, the best racing of the week was presented. The only four beat contest of the meeting' in the 2:12 trot, enlivened things greatly. It resulted most surprisingly in the first defeat Bronx, 2:041/2, has suffered on a half-mile track since early in June and the trotter that beat him was Flambo, which has been chasing his half, brother around without avail all summer. Bronx took the first heat, Lee Winder the second and Flambo the third, the latter taking the race-off. There is every probability, however, that Bronx would have won had -he been steady. Sweet Echo won the 2:17 trot, trotting the first heat in 2:071/2. The four-year-old stood out over her field but dropped the last heat to Radium because of a break. Neill Frisco, as incorrigible as ever; won the 2:10 pace in straight beats. He practically refused to score with the field but each time came from far in the rear to beat the lot.

The speed crown of the meeting was awarded today to May E. Grattan, which paced the first beat of the 2:17 pace in 2:051/4 in beating Chattanooga. The daughter of Calumet Grattan stepped a last half in 1:01 and a last quarter in :291/2. Matthew J. Dillon captured the three-year-old pace in straight heats while Lee Gadsby became the only double winner of the week by taking the 2:28 class.

DANG! It's the 1st time I've been wrong. rflmao1

Don, is the Grattan name based on family name, farm name, or geological location? That name is in a lot of pedigrees, but I never knew where it came from.

Complete shithole operated by an enabling scumbag. Stark is no better than Dakuras, she's a huge fan of the Juice/Pig child molesting charges. She let's the scum make their claims and if you respond she censors you. There is no difference between her and Dakuras/TC.

Disagree completely.
Most of the crap. Like postings of photos of peoples kids etc etc at the scum site was done and condoned by the admin that was there. Thats why they are being sued and arent coming back.

Gary nailed it. She is a nice person. Who is trying as hard as she can and its a thankless job. I have issues with every admin out there. Including her.

But shes nothing like the scumbags. Not close.

That's your opinion 3 wide. I was subjected to the same "child molesting" bullshit that the two pillars of stupidity throw at everyone and it was condoned by her personally. She allowed it to remain and censored anything I wrote. She may be a higher grade of filth, but not by much... I've found her to be as closed minded and hypocrital as anyone I've met on any harness forum. Look at her board now, it's just the rats from the sunken ship and a few other quality people like yourself and Don.

@ HPD
I never fully understood the conflict.
To me you both seem like good people trying to do the right things.

But I really dont know the whole of it.

Shes usually really good about taking down inappropriate stuff.

She seems to thnk people "pick" on some of the really stupid posters ( you know who they are). When to me there is no other way to handle them.

Anyway I try to get along with and respect everyone if I can.
Although there are some who do not deserve any respect.

IMO Dave your an asset to any forum. And a good guy.

There always seems to be a backlash at BTW when **** melts down and perhaps it is because of old battles and extricated BTW posters.  Miss J is a good egg in my book as she has handled the onslaughts from 1995 onward the best she can.  Do I agree with what is allowed now vs. years past .... ABSOLUTELY NOT.  But I appreciate the challenge.

Out-with-the-old and in-with-the-new ... things change and if Harness Racing or Mid-west Racing 'aint your priority .... be gone or don't fret about it !!!

If you are seeking old school Vernonites, we may be able to help (1970 thru 2000) ... gets fuzzy after that.

Very much like OZ ??  It is OZ !! Must be the water or it's proximity to New Hampshire. People are friendly enough but they elect Bernie Sanders, Howard Dean, and Patrick Leahy to their highest political offices so you have to wonder about them
You can be pretty sure there is tyranny in the country when the government pleads the fifth
Amendment !!
