Dentists are auto mechanics with a license in medicine, which YOU have to pay for.  All these imbeciles go to dentists & trust them instead of getting another opinion & price.

No wonder that after visiting 4 Orthodontists for my daughter that the price went from $6,000 to $2800!  They all negotiated with me until I found the one that I liked that had the video games that my daughter liked!  thumbsup

I was reviewing my nephew's paperwork and income form social security. They claimed an overpayment of over $2K and wanted a payment immediately.
I called and said we were going to appeal and needed 30 days. The lady on the phone gave us 60 days.
One week later a letter comes in the mail saying the overpayment now due is $1300.
Gotta love our govt at work.

My cousin is in his first year of college, and had $800 in tuition and books from community college last semester.  As of Christmas he didn't have his classes signed up and of course his parents are paying it for him.  They always complain about being broke... I told him and them that he should sign up for classes and they should pay for them, because the first $2000 of tuition and books would be reimbursed with their tax return.  I was called naive by his mother for saying they shouldn't let him play his video games until he signed up for classes and they paid for them... Needless to say payment wasn't made until 2012 and instead of getting the money back in a few weeks it will now be around a year.

I am not complaining they didn't pay soon enough but rather because I am related.

Over the summer, we stayed at a private house for a week for $2500.  I had already paid $500 up front then paid $2000 on credit card when we got there.

Many problems in the house that they were unable or unwilling to fix.  I asked for a return of 2 nights' payment, figuring it would be negotiated to one night.  They adamantly refused.

Called my credit card company who eventually (after hearing both sides & looking at our emails) issued a full $2000 refund.  Smart homeowner, huh?

A little over a year ago I had a serious choice to make. I had gotten my teeth deep-cleaned at a dental hygiene school in December 2009 and March- April 2010 and helped the girl get through her schooling. She did a wonderful job and paid all of the costs associated with my cleaning, which were not real expensive but probably $125 or so. sHe was happy to have a patient and could not graduate without me so she offered to do it free of charge.

The girl did a great job, but was a little shaky with her technique. I understand...she is from Vietnam and does not speak English perfectly, but she was my buddy's wife and he asked me to do it as a favor and that he would also let me borrow his guitar to record if I needed it.

When she completed my work, she said I had many cavities that needed fixed, to go see a dentist. I waited naturally till December 2010 and had heard about one, a beautiful Asian woman who was some kind of expensive, but exceedingly gentle. I went to her and she gassed me up and did all of the work in December 2010-fixed 12 cavities and 1 cracked tooth I had cracked in our accident in 2005.

Shortly thereafter, my friend from the dental school caught wind that I was seeing another hygienist and she called me and told me that she and her dentist would clean my teeth totally for free twice each year, a probably $100 more for two more recommended cleanings each year, and that her dentist was very gentle, and Asian too. Except he was a man.

I Went over it for about ten seconds in my mind. $100 vs maybe $200-300 per year for four cleanings, exams, xrays, etc. Laying up against two huge beautiful boobs while she works on me, or paying $100 less per year. Mind you that my friend's wife is the one who basically got me mostly over my dental phobia.

I picked the beautiful Asian woman with the big boobs, cause that's just the way I roll. 8)

My dentist story:

I was blessed with good teeth (and very little else) so I hadn't been to a dentist in years. Well my Bride just rode my keester to go to the dentist. I finally said, "OK", so she made an appointment for both of us so she could make sure I went. We had the full cleaning, exrays, and exam. I got a 100% clean bill of health, and she was told she needed a root canal and wisdom teeth removed. That'll teach her to nag me!
