No BC For 'Buck I'; Mare Trot Drawn

The connections of a slew of horses are hoping to occupy the winner's circle October 29 during the Breeders Crown at Woodbine Racetrack. Unfortunately, the connections of Buck I St Pat will not be in the running.

The Woodbine Entertainment Group issued a release during the afternoon of Thursday, October 20 stating that the Ontario Racing Commission had denied an appeal by Buck I St Pat 's connections.

The appeal had been launched after it was found that the $2.3-million earner was ineligible to enter this year's edition of the Breeders Crown Mare Trot, which will be raced Saturday, October 29 at Woodbine.

The release also stated that the 11-horse field for the $250,000 event has been drawn.

I see that Mr. Taylor was fined $1500 for filing a "frivolous" appeal!  Being the 2 time defending champ, they should have let her defend her crown.  Clowns!!!  She has nothing more to prove.  Hope she is retired.

Amidst all this fuss no one has stepped and said why are they even entering her ?
The argument that she has done so and so in her career would hold more water if her recent form had been better.
IMO she looks like she is done and needs a rest or be retired.

Yrs ago Todd Pletcher cried aloud because Flower Alley had been placed on the also elgible lsit for the BC Classic.
The horse had placed 2nd in 05 in the Classic won 1 single race in 06 at a mile in a G3.

Leaving Buck I out removes dead wgt from the race IMO.

Totally agree. The conditions call for one clean line in L/3. She has that and the connections paid all necessary freight to be eligible. If she races like crap, the money bet on her will just make the payoffs higher. Just sounds vindictive.
