The Ohio Harness Horsemen's Association has filed suit against Northfield Park. This is one of the most well written lawsuits I have ever read. Apparently the horsemen's purse pool is sitting at nearly $9 million, and Northfields has threatened to close the barn area and LOWER the purses.

The track management is also allegedly mishandling purse funds and said funds are in a non-interest bearing account, according to the lawsuit. Time to let these guys know they will play by the rules or they might just lose their precious casino!

Go get them, OHHA!

Idiotic.  I know I have my millions in cash in interest bearing accounts.  Rates are low but every thousand dollars counts.

Today Northfield filed it's answer and a counterclaim to this lawsuit. The judge ordered the two sides to work out a temporary deal on two things: Keeping the barn area open and the OHHA allowing Northfield to continue to send out the simulcast signal.

The two sides have agreed to keep things status quo while the case litigates. This is great news for the folks at Northfield who do not have ten cents to rub together, let alone the money to move elsewhere.
