$500,000 for a trotting filly?

I see Staffan Lind and Karl-Erik Bender paid $500,000 for a yearling trotting filly. I hope he has driving god Miller drive her if he has any plans of getting that money back anytime soon.

Let's just speculate that they will have at least $650,000 in her through her three year-old year in stakes payments, training, vet, shoeing, tack, transportation, etc. That would mean she needs to make approximately $735,000 at two and three just to break even (with driver and trainer percentages). 

Of course if she does make that much money at two and three, she will be a bargain because every colt or filly out of her will bring a premium price as well. I'm just saying that the highest priced yearlings in harness racing have a history of not paying for themselves, and I'm betting this filly will not buck the trend....and I sincerely hope I am badly mistaken.

Last I saw sales were down 15%.  Not a good sign.

Wild Honey has over a Million in the Bank.......Barn Doll hasn't left the state of New York and has over $400,000.......If she's any good, the money will be there, of course If she's not......that's a different story

I understand there are trotting fillies capable of earning that much money, but the odds are against any trotting filly even making the races at two.
