It's part of their job to talk to the media.  That's why they are paid the BIG bucks. No sport gets the media coverage that the NFL gets.  That's why they get the Big bucks.  In refusing to talk they are cutting their own throats. It's a free country, if they don't like it quit the NFL.

The NFL cares.  That is why it is part of their contract. Their revenue depends on the hype, the build up.  That is why it is a requirement. Many people care judging by the numbers who watch sports reports and read the many articles in the paper, magazines and on the internet.  If you are a pro athlete you should know that.  Wait it is true that many are stupid mo-fo's just like politicians. Also, keep in mind that many pro players make millions in endorsements. Exposing themselves to the media increases the chances of getting lucrative endorsements.  If you area dumb mo-fo you are right that nobody cares what you have to say so go crawl in a hole and die broke and homeless. As you try to sleep on the street on a cold winter's night, remember the opportunites you blew off.

  Wow I agree with Gary  As long as he does his job on the field they have plenty of

other media stories to go after, wife beating, dog fighting, DUI's, dope heads and the list goes on and on,

plus there are plenty of players who love talking to the media, if I were his coach or the team owner and

the guy performed I'd stand behind him 100%.

By the way I was at a party at Ray Rices  mansion over the weekend and man was the booze flowing, on the

first floor they served all types of Champagne, on the second floor the were all types of jello shots, on the 3rd

floor they had every type of martini ever known to man and in the elevator they served......wait for it...wait
