Big M Sat. 1/17
« on: January 16, 2015, 07:31:29 PM »
Not a great card by Saturday night standards. Just starting to handicap but thought it might be interesting to look at another angle - horses scheduled for the sale on Monday.

Not saying they'll all win but gotta figure they'll be pulling out all the stops to make those lines look as good as they can to the buyers.

Race 1 - #4 Ticket To Roll and #9 Sid Rock
Race 3 - #8 Shadios and #9 Sassy Hanover
Race 7 - #4 Capital Account
Race 8 - #1 Winds of Change and #2 Somestarsomewhere
Race 9 - #2 One Through Ten
Race 10-#5 Cabbie's Delight
Race 12-#2 Ewald Hanover
Race 13-#9 Sparky Mark

If I missed any add them to the list.

I like Ok Commander in the 8th. Horse doesn't like an off track, cross off the 2 sloppy track races and he's been racing great. Not sure why David chose off but Callahan works for me.

Race 2 #5 WAKE UP PETER: think the trip will finally work out for him this week, anything over 3/2 is a good value IMO.

Race 7 #2 CAPOZZO: throw out his last against the FFA, back to B1 where he has been successfull. In this race #3 come off a layoff, could outclass these if he's ready, watch tote.

Race 9 #4 SAMANDAR: would have capped off a great pk4 last start had he shaken loose sooner at huge odds. Won't be 39/1 this time, more like 6/5. Just don't see him losing.

Race 10 #6 LEG UP: Jim Marshall to YG has been a no-brainer angle a few times recently, this one beat the best at Freehold (I know, it's like being the tallest midget) then got a rough ride at C1. Down to C2 and YG up. Another than could be a small price.

Race 11 #9 BETTER BELIEVE IT: not the best on paper, but there is a lot of speed in here (13458), if the closers are having success consider this one, Miller to Miller change is a plus too, needs a good finish to make final.

Race 13 #3 CITY PIE: was my hot steam special last week, won effortlessly but these are tougher. The one through six all look capable, but that will only help this one's price. Think 15/1 ml is too generous but still could be 6/1.

Race 1 - Midnight lightning showed a good brush for Vallee in his debut last week. He usually gets off when they are ready to win and Gingras gets in the sulky tonight. I like him even from the 10 hole.
10W3/6/2
Double (10-1)

Race 2 - Odds On Equuleus has raced himself into shape. He still closed well against a speed favoring bias last week with these. If the track plays fair tonight I think he can out close this small field at a decent price. 1W5/6/7

Race 3 - Pick Four (3/8/9-1/3/5/6-7-11)

Race 5 - I hate the longer distance but I have to play Smart Roker here. Has raced really well with LaChance driving. Gets Miller tonight and he knows how to get position with these large fields. He'll beat the favorite here. 7W4/1/12

Race 7- Pick Four (3/8/10-3/4/9-4/5/8/9-6/10)

Race 8 - OK Commander has raced really well against better. No big dogs to fight here. 4W3/9/5

Good luck to all!!!!!

The card looks chalky, especially the first half.

Late Pick 4: 2-4-6/2-9/2-4/3-5-6-8

Race 8  #2 Somestarsomewhere: I think the speed, class and getting Gingras back adds up to a win. The sale on Monday is an added incentive, plus Yannick needs some cash for the trip to France to drive Maven next weekend. Class drop helps #9 Lonewolf Currier but he may have too much ground to make up. Expecting better from #5 Gold Rocks who picks up D. Miller. Using 2 on top with 1-5-9 underneath.

Race 12 #2 Ewald Hanover has raced better with Lasix and the class drop. Think Pierce will have him in better position tonight. Toss that race in the slop and #1 Top Gear is a big factor with the switch inside and Gingras. He'll make things tougher and soften up #8 Windsong Gorgeous. Going with #2 on top of 1-4-8.

Race 13 #9 Sparky Mark benefits from removal of the Human Anchor and gets Pierce.
Three strong efforts and last two have been sub-1:50 miles; with all the speed that 26 last quarter he flashed on 12-27 should win this. #1 Outrageous Art is a logical contender with the class drop, rail, andGingras-Burke, but it's been a long time since he won a race. #7 Salevster Stallion needed a start and gets along with B. Miller, just needs a trip to make things interesting. #9 with 1-2-7.

Race#2 Scratch #2 Al's Hammered   #7 Beach Memories.

Going to play the DD today

R1 10 Vallee to Yannick, enough said.

R2. Small field give Odds on Equuleus a shot. I think Doctor Butch's streak ends tonight.Throwing him out.  Dapper Dude Debuts for new connections, and Wake Up peter is always there.

DD's 10 x 1,4,5

For what it's worth...Voice of Truth in the 7th looks very sharp on paper. Doubt that he wins with speed dominating of late.  Very few pace setters in this race, but keep him in mind going forward.

CC:

Voice of Truth is in the 8th tonight and I agree.

In the 7th if it wasn't for the 10 hole, I think Rockin Wizard could score.  Very sharp but there's a couple of live horses on the inside and may have too much ground to make up.
