Trestman decided today to bench Cutler for Sunday's game vs. Detroit.

The official beginning to the end of the Jay Cutler era.

The line this morning had the Lions favored only by 7. It should be double but eliminate the Cutler turnovers and who knows?

"I was shocked. I didn't see it coming."

Cutler actually said this while when asked about it at a press conference today.

He's also overused this line too many times explaining his sacks, fumbles and picks.

Bears had their most productive month of the year in the last 30 days:

Trestman gone
Emery gone
Cutler.... still on the roster
Hire an energetic GM from a winning organization
And now John Fox is on board as coach. To be introduced in Chicago on Monday

First steps to righting the ship, getting back to 500, and maybe finding respectability if they can improve the D.
And Lovie Smith still can't believe he went 10-6 a couple of seasons ago and got fired.

I'll get excited when I see progress on the field.  As for Fox, rather see him than another "hot" coordinator who will come in and fail.

I would much rather see a hot coordinator or someone from the college ranks ...... it gets old watching these head coaches getting recycled year after year .

Fox is the first Bears head coach that has previously been a head coach in the NFL since something like 1940. On sports talk radio there was some discussion about this - how the Bears always seem to hire an inexperienced head coach. Not sure if this had anything to do with hiring Fox but the Bears have a history of hiring coordinators and first-time NFL coaches. You know how that has worked out over the last few decades.
