Mohawk - Saturday Night Selections
« on: May 31, 2014, 04:21:30 PM »
Lets get some picks going at Mohawk... Had some seconds and thirds last night but no winners... Looking to change that  tonight, here's what I like:

Race 1- Urbanite Hanover. Went gate to wire in his second start of the year last time, and looks to fit in pretty well here. I like his chances.

Race 2 - Lady Jake. This filly raced well last year at the Hawk and gets Jamieson's services. Had a tough trip first over last week against a good one at Vernon. She won't have to do that tonight.

Race 3 - JK End of an Era. First elimination of the Somebeachsomewhere series. Looks like the class of the field so far and has Sears driving. Playing this one on top with a straight exactor over Play It Again Sam.

Race 4- The Paninsula Hotel. Christoforou drives me nuts some nights because he does things that just make you scream, but I think this race sets up for a hard closing type like this one.

Race 6- Sing for Me George. All this horse does is go out and pace in 1:50 and change every week... I like his chances although this is a tough class. Box with JJ Shark in the exactors.

Race 7- Michael's Power. Comes back to Mohawk where he's fared pretty well in the past. Coleman stable hasn't been dominating this year like in the past, but this is one you can't overlook.

Race 8- Second Division of the Somebeachsomewhere stakes... This is another very tough looking class. Lots of speed in this race, and I'm going to take the cagey old veteran Steve Condren and Somewhere in LA. Corey Callahan's horse, Always Be Nikki is rolling in off of an eye popping second in 1:48, so he'll be my box in the exactors.

Race 9 - Major Hottie. The old war horse is still a major threat in the race wars.... He's reunited this week with Rick Zeron, let's see if they recreate their past success.

Race 10- The third leg of the Somebeachsomewhere. Another very solid looking field. I'm going to take "He's Watching" to regain his form in this race. Tough one last start, but he's good enough to rebound quickly.

Race 11- RG Riptide. Auciello has been very hot lately, take a long look at this one.

Race 12- Shipps Expectancy. Should get some good odds on a horse that raced well last start for a good trainer/driver combo...

Good luck to all playing along.

Really wanted Major Hottie to get up.  Would've helped the LP4.
