Western Fair - Molson Pace Night!
« on: May 30, 2014, 04:29:19 PM »
It's one of the best nights of racing on a Half Mile track in Canada (In my opinion), Molson Pace Night from Western Fair in London. This is a true half mile track with a ton of movement because there is no passing lane. Horses are out and moving early and all the big guns are in to drive.

The Big Race post position looks like this:

Horses in post position order for Friday's invitational event are as follows.

1. STATE TREASURER
2. BETTORS EDGE
3. BANDOLITO
4. APPRENTICE HANOVER
5. DANCIN YANKEE
6. P H SUPER CAM.
7. FOILED AGAIN
8. CAPTIVE AUDIENCE

I'm going to say that Bandolito wins in a mild upset over State Treasurer, but it will be a great horse race with some great horses. Tune in tonight to hear the calls from a great announcer in Sugar Doyle.

Looks like they have a huge crowd too. Just saw Foiled Again with the lucky fan who won a drawing to sit behind him warming up.

Very classy move by the Burke gang to allow this.  thumbsup

By the way, Western Fair has real harness racing. No damned passing lane.  thumbsup

I didn't notice that in your post. I just watched a couple of races and noticed it. I hate the f**king passing lane!

That Molson Pace was one hell of a race. State Treasurer broke behind the gate (and interfered with the trailer, despite not being taken down following the inquiry), and came back to win it all in 1:51.3. One hell of a mile for the first four horses!

Foiled was stung hard to the quarter in 26.1 and got beat about a neck for it all, but the winner made up at least eight lengths after the break. Incredible mile!

What a great race. State Treasurer got steppy off the gate from the rail, interfered (in my opinion) with the trailing horse Captive Audience and getting away dead last and looked out of it completely... Brett Miller left hard from the 5 hole with Dancin Yankee and had that one rolling on the engine, and Yannick came gunning for the lead from the 7 hole with the old warrior Foiled Again.... Miller was content to sit a two hole and Foiled Again took over and took them to a half in 54 and change before Mark MacDonald pulled Bandolito first over and went after the grizzled veteran. Bandolito came hard but couldn't get past the number pad down the backside, and Jody Jamieson pulled Apprentice Hanover three wide past the stalled flow with a big brush... And amazingly from the very back Christoforou had State Treasurer out and rolling with a huge move himself from dead last to follow Jamieson's cover at the three quarters... Apprentice Hanover and Foiled Again battled all around the last turn and when it looked like Jamieson was going by, the old horse dug in and kept him out a little longer. Eventually though Apprentice Hanover wore down the old horse but Christoforou was absolutely flying at this time and needing every inch of track got up just in the shadow of the wire to win an absolute thriller...  Great race.

In reality there should have been a recall when the #1 made the break. Since they did not have a recall, he should have been placed last, but regardless, he paced one wicked mile and a sixteenth!

I wish Brett could have gotten out though between the 3/4 and 7/8 poles. I think he had a serious shot at winning if he did.

I agree, should have been a recall.... I'm actually surprised they left the horse up as the winner... The more I watch the replay, the more I feel the judges got this one wrong.
