Best part of the summer for harness racing in Ontario is about to start, the boys are back at the Hawk tonight! I can't wait, and hope that Mohawk's surface will allow for some more horses coming off the pace and closing hard (as it traditionally did) instead of everyone blasting and nobody moving style at Woodbine.
Here's a couple I'm playing tonight:
1 - Poppie's Pride. Should be firing off the wings and end up well spotted behind one of the favorites, and hopefully has enough to go by in the lane. Should get some decent odds as well.
3 - I'm Drinking Doubles. This is another Shadow Play colt that Doc Moore has said good things about. Coming back to the big track after being prepped in Nova Scotia. Take a long look.
4 - Lost in Panslation. Sat a perfect trip in the pocket last time but couldn't shake loose until late. Jamieson will be better here and have this one in a better spot.
7 - Plans Over. This one has been racing consistently and is in against a relatively weak group. Third start from the Puddy barn, and they usually start winning around then.
8 - For A Bettor Time. Coleman trainee that's coming off two impressive qualifiers. This is the race where the big colts come out... Got a couple in here that are North American Cup eligible. Box this one with Melmerby Beach for what should be the stone cold lock of the day.
11 - Skippin By. Saddled with the worst post position but James MacDonald is a patient driver (sometimes) that does well coming off the pace. Should get a good trip and hopefully can convert.
Good luck and enjoy the racing back at Mohawk!
