Nice kid, but he can't be that sharp... That's exactly the type of thing you don't say when there is microphone in front of you.

While I totally agree with you Dave ( An Absolute idiot for what he said)  maybe the track handicapper, ML maker , and Director of racing operations shouldn't of said it first

Prepping for the Levy, so keep that in mind. Figures to improve on the class drop, but he might be overbet in this spot.

yet he makes him 3-1 in the ML

This guy is a total joke. Made Old Time Hockey 8-1 In the ML and then picks him. As much as we like to say Gural is becoming hitler, this fricken guy is the worst thing going at the meadowlands by far...

Both were  being honest .  Too honest for the new M1.  How many each night are not trying their best?    Plenty!

What if the horse had been prepping for a series at M1 instead of Yonkers? Same response from judges? Just wondering.

He made a rookie mistake.  Besides learning his lessons on the track, he needs to think before opening his mouth when doing an interview.

Joe may want to consult with Bill O'Donnell before doing his next interview.

Thus ends any driver or horseman ever being honest again.

I guess that's what they want.

Every horse is 100% every step of every mile forever more.
They are also racing on hay and oates.

The kid is really very young. When we are young, we are far more prone to speak without thinking. Some of us still speak foolishly before we think, even at 57 years of age.  yeahbabydrinkingguy

That being said, what he said was unthinkable.  slaphead What he probably meant was, "We are hoping for an easy trip to prep the horses for the Levy series." In other words, race the horse from behind. That does not mean, "I am going to tank the horse and make certain he doesn't win." What it probably means is, "My horse will not be leaving the gate. If they go nuts up front and we can win from the top of the stretch home, we will win. If not, we will be happy if the horses comes home good, picks up a check, and comes out of the race sound."

After last nights debacle, if I was a driver, I would tell Wendy and Hollywood thanks but no thanks.

You know Joe shouldn't of said what he said but at least he was being honest and not deceiving the public.

That's the sad but true reality.

I can see a future where they are more guarded than they were even before.

Why even have a twitter or a facebook or give interviews if it may effect your livelihood?

Those things are done to promote the sport not cause problems.

If they thought it was such a big problem the right thing to do was not replace Joe on his drives, but scratch both horses. The meadowlands dropped the ball on this one as both horses were still raced the way the owners and trainers wanted and people still bet on them
