While I am not going to disagree with you that the inquiry sign should have went up as just an indication the judges were looking at the race, I am going to disagree on the placing...........I think the horse was, if not barely past, then right on the wire when he went off stride.

Tomorrow night I'll go in and watch the judges video to back up what my thinking is.

But I've had the complaint for years..........even if there is a clear cut decision.......when there is any kind of breaking or interference in a race the inquiry sign should go up.

Amy Whenever a horse makes a break at the wire, barely past or not, the judges should put up the inquiry sign and check the video and not rely on their naked eye.

Even if they decided to leave the horse as is, they should at least explain to the thousands of fans watching of their action and back it up with a video replay.

They owe it to the fans at least that much.

Cashman Horses do veer of the right when they get tired. I have seen horses moving to the right so much sometimes, that a Mack truck would pass through.

I can't answer for the judges decision.......other than late driver changes have been allowed before due to illness.........Johnson claimed to be ill.

As far as his entries being scratched........Northfield Park has decided to longer do business with him.

Amy I can understand that there are driver changes due to illness but this was a pick-4 situation and there should be no major driver changes after the 1st leg.

Even though I am not privy to the Northfields program for Dec 6,  but I have read somewhere that the horse had a dubious record with a 0-20 record going into that race.

The horse should have been declared a non-starter for all practical purposes except for the purse or should have been scratched.

Yes that also deserved a look. I am telling you they take a least a couple of minutes to make a

$1600.00 purse race official but in one of their top showcase races of the year they pull this crap

and make it official in 30 seconds without looking at either incident.

I am a lifelong bettor and took most of this year off just out of disgust for the game and the way

the gambler gets treated and then you see shit like this. I have many friends in the game and I

really wish they could get better purses (slots) but from a gamblers point of view I honestly have

to hope no race track gets anything near slots that pulls this shit. And wtf they throw people out

at will and don't want them racing at "their" track and pull stunts like this ? Help me understand ?

I forgot to mention not that it matters I don't think IMO either horse would have been DQ'ed

I watched the replay 20 times but that isn't the point here I believe both incidents should have

been looked at, especially at a track with such high standards  idunno noway

Spot on sb. Most tired horses will drift out going to the wire. Good drivers try to protect the rail, but sometimes the horse finishes stronger if you let him drift a little. Also, a horse that's hurting somewhere will drift in or out, away from the sore side.

Amy the horse went off stride well before the wire.  I was sitting in the grandstand and it started right about in front of me, then I watched the tv to see if he got him back and did not.  Then I watched the replay of the stretch that they show to see if anyone caught up to him to see if I had that horse on my trifecta thinking 100% for sure it was coming down.

No doubt.......I think I stated earlier it should been immediately posted whether clear cut or not.

I want to see a better video tomorrow........from the replay on Twinspires it really looked after the wire..............but no excuse for not throwing the "inquiry" sign.

we came down the stairs immediately after the race and I stood for a few minutes to watch another view of the wire and watch the inquiry flash..........I was floored when nothing happened and they announced official  idunno

what's ironic is the long grueling friggin 30 minutes between each race...they can take that long to pull in 5k more betting money but to decide the purse payouts of a 162k race they declare it official within seconds with a clearly "questionable finish" It wouldn't have changed my finish, I don't care, but it's the principle.

so not fun to go to the races at Nfld anymore...Meadows starts five minutes before nfld on Fridays when the 8th goes off at Meadows, Nfld is on their 5th shootme
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

The lack of an inquiry when one is clearly called for happens way too often.  It leaves a sour taste in the bettor's mouth and you wonder how long they will come back for more.  It's a T-bred track, but I know I no longer will play Hawthorne because of what happens there. I played it 3 times this season.  On two ocassions my horse was clearly bumped hard several times by the winner and yet no inquiry.  Yes my horse finished 2nd both times.   The long wait is also a turnoff, more so for those at the track.  I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore.

The horse defiantly did not run before the wire.............hopefully the judges now understand their view is totally different at times from the public's view.
