Anybody going to the Kentucky Derby this year?

Anybody planning on going to the Kentucky Derby this year?

I'm giving serious consideration to going and wanted to see who else might be going.

I've gone to the Derby and the Breeders Cup each 3 times, and I prefer the Breeders Cup over it. I just love all the Championship races lined up back to back to back, makes the time in between races not as dreadful when every race coming up is a big one. I feel on Derby day you wait and wait and wait for the one big race and the day just drags on.

True, but there are no gals flashing their goods at the Breeders Crown!!!
That will perk you up fast!!!   rflmao1 rflmao1 rflmao1

imo the ky derby is a must see live for every racing fan.the weekend has come along way towards upgrading the racing on both fri and sat day.i can still recall seeing zen king run in a $10k claimer one yr the race after the derby.
the problem now is the ticket prices are huge.i love churchill but on oaks and derby day if you are not between the otr pole and the wire at least 2 floors up you cannot see enough.
the tixs for the 2 days where i want to sit will run about $500 total.can fly to vegas for that kind of money.
from a bettor's standpoint imo the bc is a better day.however i dislike the 2 day format and the addition of some useless races.
the marathon the excessive 6 furlong turf races etc.how can these be called championship races ?
i used to love going to the bc every yr and spending the friday before the big day at a place i do not visit often.now the prices are inflated on fridays.
i also do not like santa anita being the only host.belmont chuchilL and santa anita should rotate,it is not fair to the majority of horses to race at the bc to travel every year while the west coast has home filed advantage.
i respect mandella as a trainer but his record outside ca is not good in the bc

I have gone twice and I agree with T that the Breeders Cup is better to attend.

The next time I travel for the Derby, it will be going to Vegas for it and not Churchill. We were told by all of the pit bosses when we were there in Jan that it is a great time.

Just me, I say it every year I want to go to the Derby. Each year I say I'm going only to have my health fail me again!!(Already I have been hospitalized 8 times THIS last 6 months!! last time three weeks ago with Renal Failure! thumbsdown and as I say the Derby, it's because if you ask all of the jockeys what horse race do you want to win, it comes up KY DERBY 98% of the time. It's not the Arc,(though if I was a jock I think I would want to win it), not the Dubai 10 mill race.,not the breeders classic, THE KY DERBY. AND THOSE UNDERCARD RACES AT CHURCHILL ARE NOT SHABBY!!! YOU USUALLY GET A COUPLE OF HORSES EACH RACE THAT GO TO THE BREEDER'S.
