O/T Speedskating bets on future?
« on: February 01, 2014, 02:18:28 PM »
The Chicago Tribune has been devoting quite a bit of coverage lately with the Winter Games beginning next week, especially with many Chicago area skaters heading to Sochi.

www.chicagotribune.com/sports/olympics/ct-olympics-ice-derby-spt-0131-20140131,0,1672727.story

... "And to draw interest and increase profits, spectators will be allowed to bet on the races' outcomes, not unlike horse racing."

It's a lengthy piece and near the end, the writer finally mentions the wagering angle:

"So far, the betting component would make Las Vegas the only U.S. city for Ice Derby," then refers to where organizers have offered to build an arena there. The story also mentions New Jersey being a possibility for investors.

Gary, are you going to get this done in Vegas or is Gural going to beat you to it?
