The President Of PeaceTrump! Trump! Trump!
The longer he races the bigger fan I become. Incredible beast. If Gazoo could make it out to Balmoral we could have a panel discussion in the winner's circle between the 4th &5th races about the HOY issue. My side could include JS, The Bionic Man and Tony A. On the the other side would be Gazoo, Pezz and two others, if they could find anyone.
I wish Gazoo could make it ! He knows harness racing and is one hell of a good guy ! As far as HOY thereis no right or wrong answer, it's been said many times up until this point both horses are very deserving.I normally do something once like the L.B. Jug and am happy to do it but once is enough cause thereare so many things and places to go but going to the Pace the last 2 years makes me wish I could doit every week ! I'm so happy those guys include me and they are just great people period ! Tonyb, pezzy,RockNRoll, Gazoo are all class and a load of fun, it's all good times !
Amen Skipper. Add Jug, Hal, Champ, Jazz, Yeah Baby, Just Saying, and a few others to the mix and let the debating begin. I sure hope everyone can make it to Balmoral 11/9 to hopefully get our picture taken again. For those of you who have been to Balmoral with us the last few years, you might remember my co-worker Greg. Greg lived in Crete so he lived only a few minutes from the track. He jumped at the chance to join us at the track, meet some new friends, have a few beers and laughs, and make a few wagers. Greg is on the far left in the photo below. Greg had this win photo in his office and was PROUD to have been there. It made him feel like a celebrity going out onto the track and be part of this photo. Greg was a successful mechanical engineer who would travel to all our offices working on various projects. I always looked forward to seeing Greg. He was part older brother, part father-figure to me. His office at my facility was right across from my desk.As you can tell from all the past tense references, Greg died suddenly this past spring. Why do I share this? Mostly to thank the entire Burke gang for allowing us (Greg included) to share in their success with this simple photo. At Greg's visitation his wife and son thanked me for inviting Greg to Balmoral for our annual outing. Apparently he would "brag" and show this win photo to neighbors, family, even at church. Greg even knew that Foiled wasn't just any horse, but a special horse on the verge of being the richest harness horse of all time. (I told him, lol) As is tradition, there were pictures all over the room at Greg's visitation. One of them was this win photo. His wife told me that's what he would have wanted.Looking forward to November 9th. Let's have a drink (or two or three) in Greg's memory.TonyB
After reading this thread I felt compelled to reply. First let me start by saying to Tony that I am truly sorry for the loss of your friend Greg It has been quite some time since I have posted on this or any other horse racing forum. Most/some of you know who I am, but for those that do not, I am one of the fortunate owners that has been blessed with the tremendous ride Foiled Again has taken us on. He is truly an incredible horse!Tony, thank you for sharing this story! I must say that I was quite choked up after reading. It amazes me as I think about all of the people that Foiled has connected with throughout his career and continues to do as he races each time. It brings me great joy to know that Greg was able to experience with his friends such a special connection with Foiled. Thank you to all of my friends on this site that have been supporters over the years. It is greatly appreciated!
Tony definitely sorry to hear about Greg.... I'll be at the Breeders Cup this weekend which should force me into working the weekend of the 9th...I'll see what I can do but don't expect to make it.
