 Any ideas on comparable exotic pay-offs in a recent years Hambletonian (given tne larger pools).

My guess is given the hi-jnx at the Big M, the payouts would be much less than expected.
The oldest program I have is from 1948, and the only exotic they had back then was the DD.

If exotics existed in 1942, I would "assume" payoffs of at least twice as large.

Owner Bill Strang owned the 2YO and ill-fated Volo Song, whom won the Tompkins Trot at Good Time Park.

When The Ambassador won he was apparently in shock:

Taking a sheaf of bills that would not go in the pocket of a plasterer's apron, he walked down the line handing each one of Ben White's colored caretakers a bill that would buy a small piece of property in the colored quarters in Lexington. It developed a few minutes later, that remembering the boys was just the preliminary plans of the Brooklyn man in his efforts to show his appreciation of his colt's victory in winning the Hambletonian Stake, as Guy Heasley, the efficient book keeper and master of transportation of the Ben White Stable emerged from his portable office with a smile that would not grow smaller as he exhibited a substantial cheque. The next member of the White stable to show his remembrance from Mr. Strang was Ben himself, who modestly showed friend Mr. Strang's financial thoughts and appreciation of his victory with The Ambassador which was in the form of a cheque for five thousand dollars ($5,000), not the customary ten percent, but twenty-five percent, a most generous remembrance by an owner.
