A sad day in Chicago history

Ten years ago today, Steve Bartman reached out of the stands to catch a foul ball that some say ultimately cost the Cubbies their first World Series championship since 1908.

Other folks say the Cubs should have signed him, since he displayed a bit of talent by actually catching the ball.

 

My reaction today is exactly the same today as when it happened:

they were at home for the follwing game and lost that game also with their ace kerry wood pitching

Talk out misuse of a pitching staff.

Now they go to far in the other way and I think it hurt players like Strasburg and Harvey.

I think the only people who care about Bartman are the national media because it makes for a good story. None of the true blue Cub fans that I know ever mention Bartman or blame him. Pure media spin.

Fact, All Alex Gonzalez had to do was field a routine double play ball and they were out of the inning.

 A day and play that will live in infamy!  I'll never forget it.  Was at a Bulls game and was watching with other fans on a monitor out in the hall..  A loud cheer went up from the Bulls-Sox fans when he booted it.  There was a special called 5 outs away on Ch. 9(WGN) about it.  I didn't watch.  Only Cubs fans dwell on losing.

Unfortunately, losing just comes naturally to the North Side baseball club.   Folks are used to it.  Wouldn't know how to act if they were to Win It All!  Heck, its the Cubbies!   Does anybody REALLY think they'll live long enough to see the day the Cubs win another World Series?  I sure don't.

The true blue Cubs fan is thoroughly disgusted and sick of losing year after year after year. The other

fans that just go to the north side to party are the ones that make all the excuses  And don't

ask me how I know cause I ain't telling

Hey, we St Louis Cardinals fans have it rough too. Every few years we have to build a new stadium to have room to hang more World Series Champion banners.
