Consensus at Balmoral was that no slots in 2014= no more Maywood.  As I was driving to the track last night a bar across the street had put up a sign  "Come play our slots" But,  no slots at the track, that would be an expansion of gambling. 4pezz2 4pezz2 4pezz2  So, I went to the bar between races!!! rflmao1 rflmao1

Apparently Hawthorne must still be operating legally, without buying politicians. NO DATES!

I used to love going to Hawthorne for the harness, the double header cards were always great. Balmoral is just too far away to go to on a regular basis like I used to with Sportsman's and Hawthorne, and Maywood has always been terrible.

It's nice to get nostalgic about Hawthorne.  I went to many of those double headers.  Even ended up in the parking lot with a wild horse I was trying to train.  But those days are gone.  It is now in a gang infested area.  Every time I have gone there in the last 5 years panhandlers are on you like flies on sh*t.  Espanol is the language of choice. In 2-5 years there will be no Hawthorne.  It will go under the wrecking ball just like Sportsmens.  I'll try to remember the glory days and not what it has become.  Heck, I remember when I would go to Maywood with the windows on my car rolled down!  That was a long time ago.  (No Gary, you didn't have to crank the car to start it!)
