Kitna has been hurt for several weeks.  The Cowboys put a claim in on Orton as insurance in case Romo went down.  It sounds like Kitna is about 2 weeks away,  there would be no reason for the Cowboys to claim McNabb, because even if he did have anything left in the tank....which he doesnt, it would take him at least 2 weeks to learn the playbook.

Why would the Cowboys ever be interested in signing McNabb when they have Romo and Kitna as a backup .

I wouldn't say the Eagles gave up on him it just made no sense to pay McNabb all that money to back up Vick.

Plus they got a couple of picks for him in the trade.

Forgot about that wIth Eagles.
Vick is not going to last either so they can use those piks.
