Safford Team-to-pole 1950

Nice pic from Mar 8, 1950 HH and Pinehurst.
Text read:
"Perfect team work"-as Franklin Safford trains the three-year-olds, Fast
Talk by Guy Abbey, and Brown Pegasus, by Black Pegasus.

from Mar 1, 1950 HH and Pinehurst
The week's schedule for the older horses in the Safford stable was repeat
double headers around 2:50. Safford trained a pair of likeable
three-year-old trotters that he owns, to pole, these were Fast Talk by Guy
Abbey and Brown Pegasus by Black Pegasus. They took kindly to the double
hitch and made an attractive pair.

Frank was always on the heavy-side (even when he went on a crash diet one year), however in that photo he looks heavier than usual.

Hoping I'll come across another reference later that explains why Frank had these horses in tandem.
