I promised that I would join the NRA for sponsoring the NRA 500, held today in Texas-and I fully intend to do so. The NRA and NASCAR are two of the last proud bastions of freedom left in America.

And now there is this: Man commits suicide by shooting himself in the infield at the NRA 500 Sunday!

On my last trip out East I visited the National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, VA. It is located in the NRA headquarters. Very interesting.  I bought some 50 caliber bullet key chains for souvenirs.  I should have got you one Gary>

Find out more about a person before you a quick to judge them an idiot.  For all you know he could have been a vet that had post traumatic stress disorder.

Anyway suicide and depression doesn't make someone an idiot.

This is very true. Depression is one of most common afflictions.  It can also be very hard to treat.

I have no use for the NRA. The world would be a better place without it (there are other far more responsible gun rights organizations out there). But they have every right to sponsor the race. What if Planned Parenthood sponsored a car? What would the outrage be there? Coming from someone else, I guarantee. NASCAR shouid not back down next year, either.

Agree here, and besides, I love when some NRA zeolot uses the constitution as the be all end all explanation for why people should own guns.............

That was 1776, and AT THAT TIME, it was more than absolutely true...........

Then again, the constitution also didn't say too much about Slavery, which continued for over 100 years after it was written.....so I suppose basic human rights were not as important as owning guns.......
