He is a great great offensive coordinator.

Actually if he had never been a head coach he should be in the HOF for being an offensive coordinator.

He is a horrible head coach. Hes a bad general but a good leutenant.

I could have been the Offensive Coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys in the early 90's and they still would have won .

He was the Offensive Coordinator for the Chargers in 2001 and finished 5-11

He was the Offensive Coordinator for the Miami Dolphins in 2002 and 2003 and finished 9-7 and 10-6 .  Miami's defense was the reason they were winning games back then

He was the Offensive Coordinator for the Raiders in 2004 and 2005 and finished 5-11 and 4-12

He was the Offensive Coordinator for the 49ers in 2006 and they finished 7-9

Take away the 2 years in Dallas and he never had an offense finish in the top 10 in the league.

He has the most games ever coached with a losing record in the NFL history and was unemployed for what a month?

I assume its a given that he some offensive prowess.

Maybe me and the guys who run the NFL for a living are misinformed.

Cleveland fans he is an offensive genius. You will see a difference immediately.

Just dont be stupid and make him a head coach.
He isnt good at it.
He isnt good at one on one relationships with players. He is best suited as a coordinator.

some NFL teams have winning traditions

some do not

the Jets have Rex, had Ritchie Kotite, and now have top QB Mark Sanchez who they may consider trading (will anyone offer some used footballs?)

Cleveland is best known for "The Drive", and not a winning drive

my prediction is they will be entertaining next year as will the Jets, no playoffs but entertaining

Browns hired NFL Network's Michael Lombardi as VP of player personnel.
Lombardi wasn't given the GM title, which means Chiefs director of pro personnel Ray Farmer could still be in the mix to rejoin president Joe Banner and Lombardi in the front office. This will be Lombardi's second stint at the head of player personnel, as he also ran the department in the early 1990s before and during the Bill Belichick regime. Lombardi has been out of the league since a 10-year run with the Raiders ended in 2007.

I just don't know how coaches with a long record of being a loser keep getting jobs.

"Winning traditions" haven't helped the Dolphins or Raiders in quite a while.

Sometimes adding or subtracting one or two players can markedly change the face and persona of a franchise. The Ravens won’t have Ray Lewis next year and Ed Reed turns 35 at the start of the 2013 season. Losing Ray and having Reed’s role diminish due to age will have a big picture impact on the team.

Marc Trestman apparently has no interest in resigning Urlacher, who becomes a free agent in March and turns 35 in May. Similar situation.

Elgin, Reed & particularly Lewis are not just one or two players.  One of the truly great motivational people any sport has ever had is what is retiring from Baltimore.

Lewis' retirement is similar to Lawrence Taylor's.  Both are automatically on everyone's top-10 all-time.  Hardly a comparison to just a couple of good players, there are only a few franchises who've ever had this type of player.

Highly unlikely Marc Trestman will get any impact player's interest in playing in Cleveland.  He is the traditional bad choice by bad/cheap mgt.
