Meadowlands Saturday1/5/13
« on: January 05, 2013, 06:34:20 AM »
A real competitive card with some open races with value.
Who do you like out there?

Race 2 - going with Defying Gravity who will get the speed and position jump on Holdinallthecards and Cee Pee Panic, the main competition. Has raced well at Yonkers but also has mile track epxerience as well. Should be there for D. Miller . 2W7/1/10

Race 3 - Pick Four (4/5-1/7/9-1/2/5/7-1/3/5)

Race 4 - not much of a price but Oyster Bay looks solid from the rail with Callahan who has driven pretty well so far. This horse has raced better and this is his first inside post for his new barn (4th start). Should be able to have position throughout with his speed. 1W3/9/7

Race 5 - a nice longshot is Hemer's Card Shark. Fits this class and has raced well every time he's had a decent driver. Gets one tonight against a questionable field. 7W1/2/5

Race 7 - looks to be a two horse race with Musselsfrmbrussels and Silver Eagle. The former is in his thrid start for Allard and had no shot from th 9 hole last week against the Coleman claimed Electrofire who races tougher tonight. Silver Eagle was a game 2nd in the same race.
I think both horses will go to the top and it maybe them at the wire.
If price allows, box them and play on top of 5/6/2.
Pick Four (7/8-3/5/10-3/8/10-2/9/11)

Race 11 is my horse of the night in the 20-1 morning line Dalhousie Dave. Can that morning line be wrong?
This horse has an incredible brush and raced much much better last year in Toronto. He is in his fourth start back from a short layoff, his second race on lasix and gets Tetrick to boot. If he is anywhere close at the 3/4 he wins. 5W2/3/1
Late Double (5-6)

Race 12 - not much of a field here but Bolero Andrew looks very sharp in comparison to the rest. Gets D. Miller and has raced well here. He's not the guttsiest animal but if we can get 2-1 or better I think he's worth it. 6W4/10/1

Good Luck to all!

Golden Receiver picked up right where he left off, with another dynamic victory. On the heels of a career season in 2012 that saw Golden Receiver earn over $941,000, Golden Receiver went right to the lead and never looked back, pacing a final quarter in an eye-opening :25.4. Golden Receiver won by 2 1/2 lengths in 1:48.4, and right now his speed separates him from the rest and he will head into the Presidential Series as the horse to beat.

On the wagering front, it was an incredible night at the Meadowlands as the 12-race program produced a total handle of $3,501,092, a percentage increase of 28% from this same day one year ago, despite that race card having one additional race. The Saturday night card continued its incredible run that the Meadowlands has been on since the meet started at the betting windows.

The Pick 5, which featured a carryover of over $20,000 produced a pool of $128,061. That pool got the Meadowlands off on the right foot Saturday and the track never looked back.

The winter series action gets underway on Thursday night with The Super Bowl for trotters, followed by the Clyde Hirt on Friday and The Presidential on Saturday. Post time for all three programs is 7:15 P.M.
