Yes, and my friend that races at Wheeling contributes 90% of the cheating due to their classification system.

Balmoral handles good money because of 3 things 1 - it's a mile track 2 - because their signal is everywhere (look at Northfield) 3 - they race when very few tracks do (wed) (sun)

Balmoral has a terrible product  !! terrible horses and terrible drivers !!

Balmoral has the most inconsistent racing there is = big payouts , they have lame horses racing each week that never race back to the same form they raced the week before .

And you have drivers that you have guess who's trying from week to week (Widger) (Miller) (Oosting) those 3 drivers could never pull the shit that they do at another racetrack without getting thrown out.

I have never made any bones about the fact that I'm not a gambler, but I'm smart enough to know that if every horse & every driver raced to form every start, the payoffs would be nothing. It would cease to be gambling. The REAL gamblers are the ones who figure out when, who, and how much to bet. JMO

The point is that Balmoral has the same horses racing week after week and its a total crap shoot most times , do they want to win out of the class they're racing in ? because in most cases if you win out where do you go with the horse (because most can't win in the next class)

As for the cheap claimers its the same horses all year and most have alot of problems - one week the horse had vet work done and races great and for the next 3 weeks they're dead lame and up the track .

Then you factor in Oosting ,Miller and Widger and it really becomes brutal (all 3 have taken days for Lack Of Effort in the past 2 years)

If I'm an owner or trainer , I would want to put my horses where I think they belong
just sayin'

No different from Conditional races, in general.  You have a choice to meet the conditions or go into claimers.  The beautiful thing about it is you can combine B1-B2 & handicap by pp.  Also, on shippers if the Racing Secretary blows it & puts a monster into B2 & the horse wins by 10 he could double or even triple jump him into A-2 or A-3.

I agree with Pandy that the A,B,C system in the 70's at RR & YR produced the most interesting racing.  Of course you need to have a sharp Racing Secretary who doesn't do favors.  I think it'll work at M1 but not at most other tracks.  Could work at Meadows if they hired a Racing Secretary who Dave Palone couldn't communicate with.

.This was tried a few years back at Tioga and Vernon.  It didn't last long.  So, exactly why is this any different? With all the crap that goes on at the Big M, I won't be playing it much anyway.

I see that Ira Smolin the father of Bobby Smolin had the only pick 5 ticket at Balmoral Weds night and now Balmoral has the ticket on hold  slaphead

I watched the only race Bobby was in  and it didn't look like anything funny went on in the race but i see that some people disagree.

My question is how does Balmoral have the right to put a hold on the ticket unless they feel that something funny went on in the pick 5 .

Nice racetrack !!  It's bad enough everybody already thinks they cheat at Balmoral and now this  .

If you live or race in Illinois you quickly become accustomed to the crap that is dominant at the Chicago tracks and sooner or later throw your hands in the air and look elsewhere if you wish continue in the game.
Corruption is the prevailing mentallity not only at the harness tracks but throughout the city and state gevernments. It's something you live with if you live in or near Crook County and it's monster money sucking crew in Chicago.
You can be pretty sure there is tyranny in the country when the government pleads the fifth

A-B-C: Isn't that how they classify greyhounds???   slaphead

It's slightly different , with the Greyhounds if you won a race you would move up the next letter grade and if you did not win 4 times you would move down a grade
The only difference with the dogs is they probably race every 3-5 days.

It works for that Sport but I'm skeptical when it comes to Harness Racing
If I'm wrong ~ so be it.

I'll let you know when I see how my first pick 4 of the meet turns out :D
