The President Of PeaceTrump! Trump! Trump!
I think that the speed bias might be due to the inability of some drivers to rate their horses in the outer flow, which often creates too much ground to make up for those stuck behind the dull cover. When the big time drivers like Sears, Pierce, DMiller, etc. make their way north of the border, I like the value they bring on non-favorites in "undercard" races (i.e., non-stake races)...and they display incredible patience in the stretch before going to the whip, something the "B-grade" drivers don't do very well.
When people finally catch onto the secret code used to make the morning lines at both tracks they will enjoy both tracks more. When you see a horse at 7-1 ML you must look closer at these and find out why he will probably be chalk and win.
Whipping is not allowed at WEG unless you are good at hitting a horse with your two hands holding each rein. The moment you transfer the reins to one hand and whip the horse with the free hand, your horse is placed dead last even if you win the race.
Never been a fan of that rule. As Ron Pierce once said, horses aren't dumb...they may not give you 100% if you don't keep them interested...and that reflects poorly on the driver and the sport.
