Knocked something off my bucket list
« on: October 07, 2012, 11:56:14 AM »
Completed my first full marathon today.  I think it will be my second last. 40 windy and rain.  Forgot my gloves and I have swollen hands.  But I am glad its over.

For the Catholics, I went to confession yesterday and the preacher asked me how long it has been.  I told him 16 or 17 years and he asked what brought me there and I told him that I had a big run today and didn't want a lot weighing on my mind.  He laughed and said "whatever gets you here"  And yes it did make a difference.

Thanks,

It was along the old Ohio-Erie canal corridor around halfway between Cleveland and Akron.

Why not add this race to your bucket list:

Last Sunday my sister-in-law was the 1st female (10th overall) in the 50 mile Bear Chase trail race in Colorado. Yup, you read it right 50 miles in 8 hours 15 minutes.

Congrats Jeremy. I was far too lazy to train for a marathon when I was young, damn sure too lazy now. What causes hands to swell while distance running? Seems like it would do the opposite.

An fella I know that's pushing 80 scratched one off his bucket list a year ago when he went to a NASCAR Experience event down south. One day orientation and 18 laps on-track with other cars. He was clocked at 170+mph in traffic. He loves to show the video to anyone who will watch. He said it was the thrill of his life. Knowing him, that's quite a statement.

I don't know... I asumed it was external video but I've never seen it, but many friends have. It included a crew chief and a rooftop spotter that were in radio communication during the laps. They got his measurements on the 1st day and had a 'fire-suit' made for him to keep after the 2nd day driving as part of the package. He had a blast.

Great accomplishment, Jeremy.  I always am in awe of those that can complete a marathon.  Now that its off your bucket list, what's next?  Triathlon, maybe?

thumbsup To me a marathon has always involved sex, gambling, or drinking. Even when I was able to run, 1 1/2 miles was about as far as I could run without walking a half-mile or so. Anyone who can run a marathon is tough.

Even Jeremy! bowdown
