Here is and always has been my thinking: Chemically enhanced horses tend to not be able to race heats, where properly conditioned horses can.

Absolutely!  thumbsup thumbsup

Don't you just love how these "trainers" claim to care about there horses' well being & then send you a vet bill for a couple of thousand a month!

Foley says "race them Tuesday, then come back on Thursday".  The next guy who can't train will say "we need a week between races", then 2 weeks & so on & so on & so on.

They continue to ruin the sport because the druggists rule.  If they turn their back on the Jug, like Someonesomewhere did, the Hambo will be next.  Don't put it past them.

And stop rewarding these guys by using terms like "great" for horses who are protected from the competition in places like Ontario Sire Stakes & Maryland Sire Stakes.

Why can't they just say "every horse is different"?

If you don't want to go two heats don't stake.......simple.

If your horse doesn't come out of the first heat up to par, scratch.........also simple.

I love how he has to use other trainers names to justify himself.  idunno

Racing an elimination and a final would destroy the race........period.

Other suggestions:

slaphead Ryder Cup is going to change their format to 5 days so no one has to play 36 holes.

slaphead NFL targets a March Super Bowl so every team gets a week off in between games.

slaphead MLB bans pitchers from starting with less than 10 days rest.  Relievers get 5 days rest.

slaphead NBA skips regular season & goes straight to playoffs.  Hey we finally hit on something!

slaphead Boston Marathon changes it's name to Boston Sprint.

thumbsup The best trainers in harness history somehow knew how to condition one to go multiple heats... hell, even I could do that. Don't want to race heats? Don't stake and enter a multi-heat event.

Wah, wah, wah, I want the rules changed for ME. :'(

I agree that you know the format, do not enter if not prepared to go 2 heats. They should change it so another horse can fill the spot if someone decides to scratch in the second heat!...jmo

they should change the rules and make the second and final heat worth substantially more than the eliminations (25% first heat, 75% second heat) to make it really worth it to race the second heat where the horse really earns it
