Adios Manny Acta!
« on: September 27, 2012, 12:46:20 PM »
Hopefully they will let Sandy Alomar manage next year (if they don't hire me). Acta was a last place manager and is a last place manager again this year. Hopefully this will spark the team into a streak that knocks the White Sox out.

Can we fire the owner? DOLAN? If you put a A or AA team on the field what do you expect? The guy won't spend money on players or if they do it's on broken down players that hopefully have a year or two left!  They could have pulled the trigger on YOU KILL US deal but NOPE we will stand!!!! Even FRIGGIN Cinci- and Pissburg make Dolan look like a penny pinching IDIOT!!!!  Nice pick-up this year with Damon!!!!(plus Seizmore and others too) My sister has a better arm that he does.

Looks like Bobby Valentine will be available soon. He and Dolan are very close.

They fired him before the end of the season to ensure they could negotiate with Sandy Alamar and not lose him to another team that fires their coach.  I would be surprised if they hired anyone else.

Sandy has been groomed to be manager for the Tribe forever, even while he was still playing. He should be a great manager. I bet Hargrove is back in some capacity too next season.

Hopefully not in the announcing booth more than he already does.

I don't.  He will stay as a special consultant.

First of all, I would like to thank the Indians and Manny Acta for roughing up the White Sox which enabled my Tigers to take over first place.

Secondly, don't be surprised if Manny manages 19 games against the Indians next year.  Win or lose, Leyland will not return as the Tigers' manager next year.  There's an 11-year age difference between the Tigers' general manager, Dave Dombriwski, and Jim Leyland.  Dombrowski has three years left on his contract; Leyland has not yet been offered an extension.  Many believe a divorce is imminent.  Manny might be a good fit here.

Both are class acts!!! Hargrove still lives in the Cleveland area. When everyone seems to bash Cleveland, these two always supported the city.

Why fire a manager with 6 games left? Seems kinda bush league to me. Just let him finish the season.

I agree Jeremy! I think Dolan wants Alomar because he thinks a lot of season ticket owners will come back for another year. BUT if you put a A or AA team on the field, you can try to sugarcoat it. As the old saying goes if it looks like a Duck and Quacks like a Duck, Then it is a DUCK!!! The Cleveland fans know it and don't want to pay Major League prices for a minor league team!!! Dolan should have NEVER BOUGHT THE INDIANS!! TOO BAD WE COULDN'T GET MARK CUBAN TO COME HERE AND OWN THE INDIANS!!

I'd be crazy enough to say Dolan could almost stay as long as he got rid of the front office.  Trading a Cy Young pitcher with more than a year left with the centerpiece of the trade being a pitcher that was out with an arm injury... I can't even describe how stupid that is.  Then not getting the guy in Minnesota for $7 million a year but resigning Grady.  The GM cannot be that stupid with a limited payroll and expect the team to do well.

RIGHT ON 100 %. You know what happened to the other "small market teams" like Cinnci, Pittsburg, Oakland, Tampa Bay? they FOUND???$$$$$$$ and payed their good players and got FA that were not broken down players that were GASPING for air!! So when Dolan talks about small market teams that is BS. Other's are doing it. I agree he HAS to get rid of the front office. They cut their tallent evaluator's big time and it shows with their farm teams and players.
