Duer can no longer win the division. Voter backlash after dissing the Jug and its format. He could win everything from here on out and he will not get my vote. Several others have said the same.

Had Duer won the first heat would he have come back for heat 2 or were they never intending to race more than once?

He was coming back if he won, they just weren't racing three heats with him. I think the horse needs a helmet to follow. Every time he's tried cutting the mile he ends up giving way at the wire. Mark did everything he could with solid fractions and rating, but the Duer didn't fight down the lane.

Dave, that is not what Foley was quoted as saying. He was quoted as saying the horse would not race in the second heat.

Jazz- Was Foley being fair to the race, the fans or the horse by not giving him a chance to win? 7 of 8 eligibles came back to race. This was predetermined (if you read the early interviews with trainer Foley). For a horse to get my divisional vote, he must dance more than a few dances and play by the rules. Schnittker did it a couple years ago and although I love Ray, I called him out publicly too. If a horse is legitimately in distress after the elim, or comes out of it injured, that is another story.

They staked and entered into a multi-heat race. If you don't want to race multiple heats, don't enter. Seems pretty simple.

Like me.........I tried  going two heats..........Wednesday, I finished strong........but Thursday morning I was showing signs of distress...........after careful consideration with Dr. Advil it was advised I scratch early and go home.

I didn't expect you to come back for the 2nd heat after you staggered to the wire in the 1st. Thursday, the vet said you were showing signs of Advil poisoning before you left.

I agree completely with that JS.

Giss, I know they were debating it for a long time with regards to the two heats. I was told by people close to the horse that if the Duer won they'd be going in the final. I do know Foley was very hesistant. Doesn't matter didnt happen, I was disappointed with the Duer's performance... Should have drawn away off those fractions.
