Over a million bucks in purse on the card up for grabs today. I think it will be between Panther Hanover and Michaels Power on who will get the money. Lots of fun to watch Cup day!

Should be noted that Sylvain Filion is off all of his drives today and Paul MacDonnell will get the call on Panther Hanover. MacDonnell last won the big race with Somebeachsomewhere.

Nice first elimination! Jody put State Treasurer right on the blower, and MacDonnell with Panther Hanover was parked partially wanting the lead till just before the quarter pole. MacDonnell ducked him briefly before trying to come again, but Jody drove on and won easily in 1:51.2! Panther Hanover backed away badly and will not be in the final. Dynamic Youth was second while I Found my Beach was third.

Another nice elimination race here. Mel Mara cut the mile while Michaels Power sat third, Warrawee Needy was fourth and Sears trailed with Pet Rock. Zeron moved first over just before the half which gave cover to Jamieson. Mara and Micheals Power battled a bit and Jamieson pulled three high and looked like he was going to clear but couldn't quite get by Michaels Power in a 27 second third quarter. Micheals Power came back on and took the lead but the savvy Brian Sears who stayed out of the duel was flying late and won with Pet Rock. Micheals Power was second while Warrawee Needy was third in 1:51.2

The other four drivers engaged in a pissing contest while Sears sat back and watched. When all the smoke cleared he came up the inside for the win.

Considering the way he's been racing, it's shocking that Panther didn't go on to the final.

Jamieson said he believes State Treasurer is as good as any colt in the division. If he had a choice, i bet he'd choose him over Needy in the final.

Pet Rock wasn't used much in the elimination, and now he draws the rail.

Ah well I thought Jamieson was going to get that two hole trip that Zeron got instead. Micheals Power left hard, he and Sears played give and go and Zeron came up the passing lane for the win. Waples was first over with I Found my Beach and Dynamic Youth was flying from the hills to be second at long odds.

Finals results: Winner to Micheals Power, second to Dynamic Youth, third goes to Pet Rock,  fourth to I Found my Beach, fifth goes to Warrawee Needy.

[Elgin]

Michaels Power, who did not win the Pace, NA Cup, Adios or Hempt, is now the top earner in his division. His two open wins are in the quirky and out of the mainstream SBSW and Confederation Cup. The big dollars come from the CC as well as the Upper Canada and the other ONSS races.

When asked about where he goes from here, Coleman mentioned the ONSS route. The Battle Of Brandywine is next week, but that obviously isn't in the cards.

This may be the last year that it's feasible to have colts or fillies travelling on a parrallel path in Ontario and out earning the GC colts and fillies.

After today's win in the EBC, Heston still has a half-dozen colts ahead of him on the earnings ladder. He's traveling a similar path to Michaels Power; it just isn't as lucrative.
