Which colt is better, Time To Roll or Kingcole?

TTR has the money crown with three wins and two seconds in seven 2012 starts, good for about $480,000. He was second in the NA Cup, won the $150,000 NJSS Final over A Rocknroll Dance, won his Classic elimination last week at 1/5 and beat Kingcole in a Jersey SS prelim earlier in the year.

Kingcole, on the other hand, has made three more starts and has four wins, good for $130,000. He finished out in his NA Cup elimination and had the same result in his Pace elimination. He equaled the WR for a three-year-old on a 5/8 track when he won his Hempt elimination in 48.1, but he finished out in the final. He won a NJSS prelim and qualified for the final, but went to the Rooney instead, where he finished third. He won the Pace consolation in 47.3. He won his recent Classic elimination in 48.3.

Time To Roll lays over Kingcole when it comes to money, but he can

If I had to choose one to put in my stable, I'd take Kingcole because of his speed and potential to break the 146.4 race record.

As an O/T/D I would have to pick Time To Roll. I'd rather have the long-term money than the record. High speed, early breakdown horses don't appeal to me. I'd rather have one like Won The West that just keeps going like The Energizer Bunny.

This was an attempt by a driver, knowing his horse has no heart/guts, to bottom out a field (Gary- a la Majestic Creed). It did not work out, but I will not fault the driver. The only way this horse sets the record is if he TT's, and even then, he may get passed by a prompter.

Was Time To Roll even in the race yesterday?

That was a sad performance by TTR. Miller left to maintain position in that 26.3 opening quarter, but he just followed along from there. The colt was seriously gapped around the last turn and looked spent down the stretch.
