The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has upheld a decision by the Board of Stewards/Judges to deny Walter Case Jr. a license to drive harness horses at Plainridge Racecourse.

I wonder if they will still let him train horses?

The guy still has to try and make a living.

Lots of jobs for janitors and fast food guys, or maybe he clean a few stalls.

Working with horses isn't a right, there's lot of other jobs he can be doing.

I don't have much sympathy for the guy, he's thrown away every chance he ever had. Fantastic driver, not a good human being.

Agree completely on most of this but I say keep him away from women , he didn't try and stab a horse :-\

All to often former prisoners are never given a second chance , he was a popular driver in his time.

I understand all the arguments to keep Case idle.  Nevertheless, I was hoping to see him return.

Tough call.  He has no  "right" to return.  But, as has been said, if ex-cons arn"t ever given a chance to show they have been rehabilitated, the recidivism rate will be higher than it is now.
As for now, Case should accept his fate and concentrate on cleaning stalls or working on a farm.
His skills are not going to increase.  He might be OK at a c or d track, but does anyone really think he could be a top driver at the BigM, Philly or Yonkers?

this goes beyond him being an ex con and the stabbing thing..... The years and hundreds of penalties he received and his disregard of officials probably played a part.
Everything he did in the business --- he couldn't help himself. The substance abuses / the kicking -- in the business the guy repeatedly couldn't help himself.
If he is in a place where he is not hurting himself or anyone else, that is where he needs to stay. He obviously is doing something to make a living, perhaps not what he was accustomed to but he is at least safe.
For people to call on his behalf to get back to driving is a little selfish as history will tell us he may return to old habits.

I agree he has had  enough chances.  One thing his promoters keep throwing is your face is if race-fixers are allowed back in, why should he be kept out.  Of course, several wrongs don't make a right.

During the hearing Jeff Pocaro positioned Case in front of a table with his foot up and out in front of him. He then explained that, contrary to the popularly held belief that Case kicked horses, the hind quarters of the horse actually came back and struck Walter's foot. So the horses were hitting Case; he wasn't kicking them.

This is actually correct. When at Nfld, most of his violations were "foot out of the stirrup," not "kickking."
