Cedar Downs OTB in Ohio?
« on: October 31, 2011, 08:55:40 AM »
Anybody been to this OTB in Ohio?

I did not even know it existed until I paid a entry into a tournament for our son, sounds like it is a water park / bowling alley / OTB.  Located besidie Cedar Point from what I have read!

If anyone has been there......am I going to get mugged in that area?

Been there several times Jug.......I think it's been remodeled but it's actually a bar/resturant with the OTB incorporated.    Actually it's a pretty friendly place and I've never had any issues as far as being "on guard".  Parking lot is well lit (not that I was carrying any cash when I left...LOL)   Food was good too !!   If I remember right the place is called the Thirsty Dog.   The bowling alley is also attached, but you don't hear it in the bar/eating area.   TV's everywhere to watch....so basically, pretty laid back friendly place.  thumbsup

The one I bowled at had a sign that said "Do not loft ball, it will fall into the lake"

Uhm, just about everything in Ohio is south of Cedar Point rflmao1. It is actually at the entrance to the Cedar Point Causeway on Rte 6, so there is lake very very close to it.

Thanks for the info, I just booked a room for $99.00. The bowling tourney starts at 8:45am so it was either pay or leave at 5:00am!

where did you book the room?  this time of the year you shouldn't pay more than $50

In the little town of Bristol,TN they have trouble even renting out a motel room. On NASCAR weekend they are $800/night, 3 night min.

That's why my Son and I stay at Pigeon Forge about 90 miles out for $72.95/night for a two room suite with a balcony overlooking a creek.

I imagine Jug's room price is linked to the tournament.

Betting harness is a lot like riding a roller coaster, a lot of ups and downs.  You go up slow but come crashing down.  Fitting place for an OTB. 8) 8) 8)

By the way, I'm staying at the  la cucaracha
motel in Louisville.  Anyone familiar with it.  Only place I could find under $300.

Booked the room direct from the quality inn website, I dont mind a little more since it is attached to the bowling center!
