My Wednesday night selections for Batavia Downs' 12-race card beginning at 6:25 p.m. (EST) are now posted at http://briansbataviadownsselections.blogspot.com Read the feature on owner Howard Ouriel as well and vote on the last poll question.

Brian..
Any idea when Batavia Downs is gonna run another one of those hot dog promotions?

I don't feel so bad now about the stunt I pulled yesterday. An elderly lady dropped a dollar bill at check-out at the local convenience store here in town and didnt know it. Ole FreeLegged casually put one of his size 11 PF Flyers right over the top of it and just stood there. Looked around to be sure nobody else witnessed it and as the old lady left I just grabbed that puppy and put it in my pocket. Thats a full meal for me next time Batavia Downs has that hot dog promotion.

I feel comfortable in saying that you will get your money back, Amy. This poor old lady in the convenience store will not, however.  thumbsup

General Harness Racing Discussion / How odd is this story

Wasn't a standardbred, but still a horrible story.
Happened today, just outside of Saratoga Springs.

Come to Delaware to the Jug and I'll hook you up with all sorts of free food. It's what I do.  dorkusinterruptus

I am sure you have a tip jar that is strategically placed.

Me too. It makes me sick when I see people that hope to see this horse fail. Not necessarily on this website, just in general.

This is a feel-good story that once was prominent in the sport.

Help me understand. Do I get a hot dog and a soda for a total of 50 cents? Or is that 50 cents each? If I get 'em both and only have to burn half a dollar, then thats not too outrageous.

I gotta go one of these days anyway as I noticed when I was making myself a sammich today that I was getting low on mustard, so I have to go to someplace and line my pockets with more of those packets of mustard.

Might be a good night to go. But I'd like to know if I get a meal and beverage for the 50 cent total.

and one more

This image is the "basic training" I hold each summer (early June to prep for the Fair). This is the beginners class. Note how high the fence is. And also there are no sharp edges pointing outward. As they advance through basic training, we lower the fence height and add sharp objects. These are all day events. We supply bottles of water, cooling tents etc for all recruits.

rflmao1 rflmao1 rflmao1 Hey can you plan my transportation for the pace next year ? If I told you what

the cab ride cost you'd get very nauseous or maybe worse I got sick about it myself.   rflmao1

funny you mention the pace. When I was halfway their yesterday, I noticed I had my good t-shirt on. The one I got the day that Dexter Nukes won the pace. I was hopin like heck that I didnt tear it as I performed the technique previously mentioned. But then of course, I got there and the fence was all patched up.

Freelegged, Rite Aid's security camera doesn't support your account of what happened.  I guess, when the economy is brutal, people can do desperate things.  If you buy me a coke, with ice,  I won't send this photo to RTP.  Is that your truck seen over your left shoulder in to photo?

LOL
thats the exact kind of fence at the fair. The bottom was pushed up about 2 feet. so you could get down on your stomach and sorta crawl under. We call that maneuver the
" Down low, 3 point, up and under wiggle". The move was invented and perfected by me. Note: Do not try the first time without having spotters to assist. This move is only for those professionally trained to do it.

By the way, if any of you fine posters see Race Track Phil around...please don't mention to him that I did this.

I have told him for years that I am referred to by friends as "The Big Spender". I believe I have him convinced of this, so he doesn't need to know that I am frugal.
