whenever Obama or any democrat mentions how much in taxes Romney pays I lose respect for them.  Just like the country their respect levels are now at a deficit. Yes I have negative respect for them.

Romney did not make the tax laws, it is not fair for someone to attack him (that can make or change the law... congress change, Obama approve) for the taxes he paid.  Could the capital gains rate be a little higher?  Probably.  If the tax laws taxed capital gains at the same rate as regular income would the wealthy leave this country and invest elsewhere?  Probably.

Mitt had a very good night given the high expectations.  He may increase his current lead slightly.

Wow did Barry look bad on Libya!!!  He out and out lied about what he said in the Rose Garden the next day and that ultra-lib crowley showed her true  colors in suggesting he was right.  That should lose him the election right there. You knew Obama couldn't do as bad as the first time and the socialists and commies would claim he won with any improvment. Keep dreaming!!!  I loved it when Mitt recited a long list of broken promises from Obama and the messiah had no real answer.
I also loved it when he was asked about his energy chief's statement in support of $4 a gallon gas.  He rambled on and on but NEVER  did he disavow the statement.

Turn out the lights the party's over Barry Soheto.

Actually, he does intimate that it was perhaps one of the "acts of terror" at around 4:17 into this video.  He's going to get away with this, thanks to his friends, the media despite the fact that he carried on for 2 weeks, telling everyone it was because of the tape.  The only thing that MSNBC & CNN want to talk about is Romney politicizing this.

I've had the opportunity to talk with at least 10 visitors from overseas vacationing here over the last couple  years.  I never bring up politics with them.  However, several asked me "do you mind if I ask you a political question?"  Of course I said no, go ahead.  What they asked was " what the hell you guys going to do about Obama?  He is a laughing stock around the world. That is how he is perceived.   I would much rather have Mitt walk into a room representing us with foreign leaders than that  bufoon, Obama.   I know he won't be bowing to any kings and he'll have his wife with him, if she is healthy enough.  Muslim disrespect for women be dammed!

When Barry says that any family income over $250k is "The Filthy Rich" I always want to ask him about the $8mil he got to be the name on the cover of two ghost written books. If he believes $250k is enough for any household, why doesn't he give the other $7,750,000. to the IRS?

I think 15% capital gains tax is exactly 15% too high. You have to pay income tax on money you earn, then get taxed again if you invest it. The publics money does not belong to the politicians.

Punishing the achievers is a short road to disaster.

ps I've never made anywhere near $250k, but I don't resent how much anyone else makes.

My wife, who is pretty astute politically and up on current affairs, walked out of the room some five minutes after the thing started. I said "Hey, where are you going"? Her comment, paraphrased, was that she could not listen to another second of Soetoro's lies.
Since we are both from the Chicago area (Glen Ellyn) we know liars when they appear and it seems Barry hasn't out grown his adopted roots as of yet. Once a congenital liar, always a congenital liar. The troubling aspect is that he seems to believe his lies.

Why use a moderator at all?  Every debate should be Lincoln-Douglas style.

This person who you think did an "outstanding job" & who also has a record as being one of the very many left-wing media zealots, admitted later that she made a mistake.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=athcyCTnTTs

Obama absolutely never said this was a "terrorist attack" until 2 weeks after the attack.  Romney was correct & Obama was caught saying "please proceed Governor" in an attempt to cover up one of many, many lies.

Elgin, you are clearly very far to the left - too far to see the middle IMO.

I think you mean it is 100% too high.   ;)

I think that 15-18% isn't bad, but any higher people will invest their money elsewhere.  When you have a lot of money it is good to pay towards things like national defense as well as infrastructure.  The problem is that the government wastes too much.

If you paid 30%+ when you earned it I don't see that you should have to pay another 15% if you invest it wisely.

If the government spent ONLY on national defense and infrastructure 15% would be plenty, but they have branched way outside of their constitutional limits for many, many years.

George W Bush was just a guilty with things like the Medicare prescriptions benefit, among others. The dems went along with him, but now want to decry it. Same with the authorization for the use of force in Iraq & Afghanistan which they all voted for TWICE, and now pretend they didn't.

The other thing that is rarely mentioned is that the IRS limits your losses to $3000 a year.  So if you make great decisions in 2012 & earn $20,000 in stocks you pay 15% on the $20,000.  If you lose $40,000 in 2013 you get to deduct $3000 & then carry it forward until you catch up (if ever).

Most of you know, i don't like either candidate. I think they both suck. But the ONLY way this country will ever get back to what it is supposed to be, is when ALL of the people actually vote for the best candidate and not what letter they represent. JMO but there are way to many people in this country now that say my way is the right way and the other way is wrong ( either way) and when it is that way, well we have what we have now. If neither party ever works with the other, no matter who is president, we will still be taking about the same shit over and over again. There are just more republicans on this site so if Romney wins, they will say he is doing a great job and if he loses, well then those are planning to leave the country.

Both sides, no matter what need to work together or it doesn't matter no matter how much you type on your keyboard....

100% correct.    That is why I am so alarmed at Barry.  When he had 100% control, he refused to accept any Republican or any other party input.  Some Presidents, such as W may have gone too far in accepting opposition input.  (Then when the suggestions failed, HE was blamed for it by the very people who gave him the input)  Guys like Clinton were more successful because they did work better with the other party.
I absolutely hate Obama and am not a huge Mitt fan.  But, I'll have to vote for Mitt because he has shown that he can work effectively with the other party.  Obama has shown my way or the highway!! And, I think his way sucks.

12 million fought in WWII, in which far more than 50,000 were lost. That was the last war we won until after Korea & Viet Nam. Since Korea we seldom go into a war to win by any means. Nowdays the politically correct politicians get involved and insist on fighting a "kind & gentle" war. But the enemy has no such intentions, so our troops become sitting ducks.

IMO we have the best trained and equipped military in the world, so if they are sent to battle let them use the "Shock & Awe" approach until the other side surrenders, regardless of enemy casualties. Otherwise, dont send them.

Matt Zeller
Obama Handily Wins Third Debate
Posted: 10/22/2012 11:51 pm

Tonight's third Presidential debate featured a battle between Obama the Professor-in-Chief vs. Romney the student-who-didn't-do-the-reading. As someone who has ADD, even I had trouble keeping up with many of Governor Romney's non-linear arguments. Indeed, Romney's desperation to hit all of his talking points and critiques at all costs came at the expense of appearing Presidential. Presidents and leaders don't just critique problems they offer specific solutions on how to fix them -- in that regard, Obama handily won.

Romney clearly can memorize the talking points Dan Senor and John Bolton feed him -- hence his obsession with Israel and Iran -- but they all need to look at a map, because last time I checked Iran has a whole ocean border with the Indian Ocean (I'm still not sure how Syria is Iran's path to the sea). Also, a pre-emptive attack on Iran will do nothing but unite the Iranian people with the Ayatollah's for at least another generation -- Obama gets that, Romney scarily does not. The last thing America or the planet needs is an American war with Iran. While Governor Romney clearly wanted to use Israel against President Obama as much as possible, the President's story about visiting the Holocaust memorial and shelled Israeli cities while Romney held fundraisers was one of the most poignant and moving moments of the debate.

That was when he was a candidate in 2008!!!!---another story he told to avoid answering the question!!!!!!

Obama is an ass clown.  He refuses to address questions and instead launchs into personal attacks that are not relevant. I'm glad Romney called him on it.  Obama gave no response to Romney questioning Obama silence during the Iran Uprising.  Obama just said he was wrong 1,000s were tortured to death because of Obama being a coward, but he doesn't want to get into stuff like that.  WSould make him look bad.  (Because, he is BAD.  )  He is a disgrace to the office of the Presidency and is nothing but a liar and political hack.  The more trouble he is in the more he lies and throws out the dirty tactics.  Mitt gave a much more reasoned expalination of what his policies would be.
No person with an IQ over 80 would have thought Barry won that debate.

Elgin, well, if Matt Zeller, a Democrat said that Obama won, of course how can that be disputed?
 hammerhead1

What I came away from the debate was this:

Obama made things sound so rosy thanks to his great politics (notice how many times he referenced the word "me") around the world, we certainly don't have any reason for concern.  He's got it all under control, never mind that Egypt is becoming a theocracy, Iran is becoming a nuclear power, Syria continues to squash their own people, Afghan soldiers keep turning on us as the Taliban waits patiently for us to leave.  Of course Russia will be dealt with after Obama wins (that's what he told them) & that misery he has to deal with everyday, Israel fends for themselves while the Liar in Chief continues to spew his anti-semitism.

But go ahead Elgin, vote again for Damien Thorne as the media continues to protect this nasty, nasty Chicago politician.
 bowdown bowdown bowdown

I am proud to vote for Romney, who took the high road in the debate, something Barack Hussein Obama is clueless about.

Sorry, but college degrees have nothing to do with IQ.  Barry has a bunch of degrees ( although comtemporaries can't remember him ever attending any classes)  Having degrees does not make one a good person.  Some of the most vile people I know are well educated.  That is the problem, people who are "book smart" but who can't apply their knowledge in the real world.  Barry reminds me more of the Manchurian candidate than anything else.

Yes, no doubt that he is the smartest president & you, by far the smartest poster.  It does tell you something about the entire left-wing movement, who talk down to everyone & get the poorest of the poorest to protest & vote against the right.  They are apparently also the geniuses of the world.

Here's what I don't understand:

When someone offers you the center as Romney is offering why is he chastised by the left?  We all know he had to pander to the right to get the nomination but he never governed as a right winger so why the hatred?

I am against both extremes which is why I find Mitt so attractive.

By the way, since you have proclaimed such intelligence, why are you having problems with simple arithmetic?  "The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Massachusetts Voters shows Obama with 57% support to Romney's 42%. One percent (1%) is undecided."

Oh, I forgot - same math as your genius President - 10 trillion minus 5 trillion = 15 trillion!  slaphead

Stock market is still assuming an Obama re-election.  Some CNBC commentators believe that a Mitt win is worth roughly 100 SP points or about 800-1000 Dow points.  I don't think that's going to happen until/if Mitt gets elected or builds a HUGE lead, making the election itself just a formality, which I don't see happening.

As 3WW noted, beware of an Obama trick/surprise in the last week leading up to the election.  Nasty Chicago politicians don't go down without trying absolutely everything.
