This is the sort of race we need to get the big bettors back on the harness racing bandwagon:
$3.00 win price on Cheddar
$1 exacta--$1.70
$1 tri--$7.50
$1 super--$14.90
.10 super--$1.49

Short fields in big stakes seem to be the trend. The slot states , required to gbe the money away often go the route of the big stakes. As a fan , I would rather see cheaper series with a nice Final purse for local horses and horsemen. Bettors have a chance to follow particular horses over a few weeks. Instead out of staters come in and grab the cash and the fans essentially get a non betting race.
