The 2011 Three-Year-Old Filly Pacer of the Year See You At Peelers will make her 4-year-old debut Thursday morning in qualifying action at the Meadowlands. Also scheduled to start in the nine-race session are two winners of more than $3 million each: reigning Pacer of the Year Foiled Again and trotter Arch Madness, who represented the U.S. in last year's famed Elitlopp at Solvalla, Sweden.
See You At Peelers finished her sophomore campaign with nine wins in 12 starts, including the $613,020 Fan Hanover at Mohawk and the $307,734 Art Rooney against her male peers, and $916,611 in earnings on her way to Dan Patch Award honors. But her season hit a major snag when a virus that led to heart issues was diagnosed in early September resulted in some time off.
Although See You At Peelers returned for the Breeders Crown eliminations at Woodbine in late October, she was obviously not the same filly as she finished seventh and failed to advance to the final.
Takter said he hopes to qualify See You At Peelers, owned by his wife, Christina, in partnership with brothers John and Jim Fielding, at least twice before debuting in the opening leg of the Blue Chip Matchmaker Series March 23 at Yonkers. Brian Sears will drive the daughter of Bettor's Delight from post two in the fifth qualifier.
