When "doing business" in the Middle and/or Far East it most certainly does. I spent several years in the Mid East and their are still counties (according to contacts I still have there) where women are very much third class citizens. When I first went into Saudi Arabia we weren't allowed to bring our wives and families with us. Women and especially ex-pat women still cannot drive in almost all of the region. When not accompanied by their husbands, these same women cannot be seen outside of their compound. They cannot wear shourts or even short sleeved tops when out of that compound.
Now do you really think, at a diplomatic level,Madeline Albright or Hitlary Cartoon would be respected for what they do or what they know ?? It is much the same, although to a lesser degree, in the Far East.
Sorry, but it just don't work that way in the non-politically correct areas of the world. Not only that but if you wish to ally yourself with these people you had better do as they say---at least until you are known and respected.
A woman, alone, will never achieve that status in the Islamic world.

I can understand a person who is much more liberal than Amy appears to be having that opinion. That's what liberals do. There is even one or two who are members on this forum who might but aside from yourself I can't think of any right now.

You are trying way too hard and you are just looking stupid.

You made a comment about what Hilary looks like to you, and then Amy made her comment.  She didn't say anything about other countries, but you brought it up.

You were insulting someone based on their looks, were called out on it and then gave a reason that has nothing to do with your personal opinion. Then when called out on that you blamed the other side politically. Pathetic.  And to top that all off you still think I am a liberal because all you know how to do is attack instead of thinking maybe others can have opinions that don't go along party or political ideal lines.

I'm really sorry that you lack the basic intelligence to grasp a meaning which, apparently is far above your level. I hadn't thought of it as being such. I'll make them simpler from now on and label them as "sarcasm" or "jab at the lefty". Watch for it.

If you want to go through my voting records you can see I haven't voted for any liberals, and for far more Republicans than any other party.  But it is easier for you to label me as one that to actually address the question.

That really is the root of the problem, if someone doesn't believe the same thing as you they must be a liberal and cannot comprehend anything. 

But addressing Amy's post, she questioned why you bring up her looks like that has an effect in your mind on how she does her job.  I was raised to never insult a person based on their physical attributes, perhaps if your parents should have done the same.  OK so you said that in the Middle East they care about someone being a woman, but you didn't address anything about your post regarding your own feelings.

It must be a miserable existence for you to go through life thinking everyone that doesn't agree with you politically or as far to the right that they must be stupid, because there are far smarter people than you are on either side of the aisle.

I think the world of Condoleeza Rice and would vote for her as U.S. President in a heartbeat, but, even though she did a great job as Secy of State, I think many foreign leaders do indeed not like dealing with women. I don't agree with their attitude, but I am not dumb enough to think that it doesn't exist. IMO if you want to negotiate the best & safest deal for American diplomacy you should send whoever can get us the best deal. Far too many of those foreign crackpots do not like dealing with women. I think Allbright, Rice, and Hillary are all mistakes for that job. They would all be far more valuable in different positions.

Not very many pols impress me much... but Condi Rice is impressive. When asked if she would like to be U.S. President, she answered that she would much rather be the Commisioner of The NFL. Her bio is one impressive read.

Just ask Gadaffi... (oh... nevermind.)
