Meadowlands

Totally understand how the drivers and trainers feel that racing at the Meadowlands is like playing at Yankee Stadium.

Unfortunately, the Bad News Bears are on the field.

For the first time in ages I went to the OTB tonight and played the Meadowlands.   The place has turned into a joke.
Eventually it will be shut down.  Looks like they will never get a casino.  Two day a week racing just doesn't cut it.  As  I sit around with no racetracks to go to and realize how much I hate Illinois politicians, I'm frustrated because I can't do anything about it.  I know others hated Illinois racing and they will soon get their wish of no racing in Illinois. I know it had fallen off in quality but that was mostly the politicians fault.  Anyone who thinks "promotions" and better fan treatment would have saved it is full of shit.  Now it is beyond saving.   I will miss going to the track and eventually will stop playing.

The least they can do is add 2-3 high quality races per card. They can't even do that. A $13K purse for a feature isn't much of a feature.

The quality is so bad that it's no longer handicapping, it's guesswork.  The low level stock is so inconsistent.

As an experiment, I capped the weekend's cards, built my tickets, but didn't wager a dime. I'm glad I didn't play. In fact, I even struggled to make the effort to even read through the god awful past performances. It was that bad; like mining for dimes in a field of shit.

I guess they will proceed with this model since they are losing money and they still seem to draw a respectable handle despite the lack of quality. Unfortunately, they won't see any more of my money.

Gural tried. Just can't compete with casino money. Sad reality.

And yet they handled 3.3 million on Friday..
And that would be more than Yonkers, and Pocono, and Chesterdelphia, and the Meadows, combined for the day.
I too think the racing sucks. It's "dartboard" racing, but people do bet on it.
It's "Freehold North," but because it's on the big track, it's a hit.
Let's face it, the game is in an iron lung...
