Twilight Racing
Influenced by the success of twilight baseball and pursuant to the results of a survey, Roosevelt Raceway at Westbury, L. I., has settled upon a post time of 5:30 p.m. for its 55-day harness horse meeting which will open Monday, July 13, with an Army Emergency Relief benefit. J. Alfred Valentine, general manager, announced the decision today following completion of a thorough sounding by mail and personal contact of all quarters which patronized the highly successful 1941 meeting.
Directors of the track previously planned a 2:30 starting time, but their survey convinced them that twilight racing deserved a fair trial. The eight races which will make up the daily card are to be spaced twenty-three minutes apart, making an 8:11 post time for the final event. The track operated at night the last two years. The sw itch to daylight was necessitated by dim-out regulations.

Auspicious Opening at Roosevelt Raceway
The lengthy meeting at this popular Metropolitan course opened on Monday evening of this week in a highly gratifying manner, the attendance being 5.500 and a trifle in excess of $58,000 was wagered. Featured among the winners were His Honor, winner of both dashes in the pace, and the victory of Willie Hope, a double?winner at Historic Track.
