OT: Just a Feel Good Story

[Just Saying]

I live in a little grain elevator town of 600 people. Since it was a drought year all the crops came in way early, so the elevator has been pretty dead. Today there was a line of grain trucks dumping grain, which was odd. Then I saw the farm name on the side of one of the trucks. Bruce died this summer, and all the neighbors were harvesting his fields for his widow, Judy. They won't ask for a thank you or pat themselves on the back for what they did. It's sure nice to see people look out for each other these days. Bless them.

There is still hope of us.     the news media  shoves so much bad stuff at us every day we never get to see the good stuff .  Good Stuff doesn't sell but it is what makes us a great country.

I am blessed to have mostly Amish as my clients. Watching and learning from their sense of family and community are lessons that more of us English need to emulate. Not just in times of trouble but every day. I still don't want to give up my computer, phone or tv ... just saying.

I often deal with the Amish and have great respect for their sense of responsibilty to God, family, and neighbor. But I, like you, am not willing to give up all the trappings of my lifestyle... however meager they might seem.

Farmers will do things like this for a neighbor they hate, because it's the right thing to do. Bruce & Judy are well liked, but it wouldn't have made a difference. They show up with combines and trucks and tractors and knock it out in a hurry and leave. They all know their neighbors would do the same for them. I'm glad Judy has at least one worry off her mind.

I'll second that thought!  City folks help out too!  When my neighbors house was vandalized while they were on vacation, they lost all the food in their fridge and freezer.  The power cords were cut.  I went through my fridge and my chest freezer and brought all the out of date stuff and things I didn't want over to help them out.

That is a big advantage to living in a smaller town , everyone knows the deal and cares for one another. When I moved from the City to where I'm at now it was like two different worlds and it's only 15 miles out of the city limits.

I would love to be living down by you some day ~ good people !!!
